full stadiums, no masks

no more mass testing for players

let's go
Interesting. Apparently the WHO has been misleading us all along about the virus and we all saw with our own eyes what it is capable of in NYC so I will take that entire story with a grain of salt. No thanks, China and the WHO. I'll wait for the CDC to come out with something before I even think about believing it.

The whole deal really starts to smell like a political conspiracy to destroy our economy. I'm going to have to pull the old tin foil hat out of my closet. I don't think there's any doubt that China purposely facilitated the spread. It's amazing how quickly the progressive media dropped the topic when the riots started.

WHO can believe anything they say anymore? How does that even add up? If it has spread way more than previously thought, how is that happening if not asymptomatically? And the CDC hasn't been much better btw. They were pushing 'don't need a mask' for a long time when that was obviously wrong. Probably the biggest single mistake of the whole pandemic. And the shine has come off Fauci too. I think I see how he survived at his position for 40 years now.

When it comes to covid19 info, I'm the guy to trust obviously.

I don’t care one way or another, we need this season to happen; shortened season, regular season, whatever. All the crap going on, we definitely need this season to happen more then just our Huskers making those 4-8s and 5-7 seasons a thing of the past.

interested in what people think is the conspiracy

is it the origin of the virus
whether the virus exists at all
the reported death rate - COVID or overall death rate

Mostly the last couple items. The media jumped on board the Armageddon train, early, and the reporting has been tailored to justify it. Every step of the way. Pump that fear, especially in an election year! Equally as troubling as that, is how winners and losers (essential vs non) were picked, and, sadly, how so many people fearfully complied. There was a dispensation from attending mass. Nobody was obligated to go, but locking churches up?? I understood, to some extent, in early March. Not now, at all. So many facts that would allay fear and inspire confidence, ignored. The local Menards, still REQUIRING masks? Good grief...

Anyone still arguing we made the right call to shut down the country and destroy the economy that helped fuel the powder keg we've been watching unfold the last few weeks is just being stubborn. It was a huge mistake. It was stupid, it was done largely for political gain because had things kept rolling the way they had been, a certain somebody would have breezed to re-election.

Whoever masterminded this political conspiracy must be an absolute genius. How he/she got schools, restaurants, businesses and government agencies from Kazakstan to Chile, from Iceland to New Zealand and nearly every other corner of the world to shut down for weeks in a sinister effort to wreck the U.S. economy is truly an amazing feat.

Good Lord Almighty - this board's return to a no political nonsense policy cannot get here soon enough.

For anybody who is interested, there's a couple of good articles on Reuters now. One discussing the Harvard study that suggests that this was spreading in Wuhan as early as August. The others discuss serological studies on a Navy vessel and a state in Italy. Antibody presence in both cases IF I recall correctly was about 60%. Huge number of people on the Navy vessel who never reported any symptoms even though they tested positive for antibodies.

If you just look at all cause mortality by year - again regardless of cause there has been a big spike in the spring of 2020

it must be a whole world conspiracy because worldwide the death rate in 2020 is much higher than anytime in recent past

Why did New York leave their mass transit open. IF they had merely said, "work from home we're shutting down Uber and all mass transit." coupled with quarantining their nursing homes in the 3 hardest hit blue states, they would have saved tens of thousands of lives. Instead they FORCED nursing homes to take COVID-19 positive patients. Hmmmmmm....cuts state disbursements for the care of the elderly. Meanwhile nursing homes get a spiff of $13,000 from the feds for each COVID-19 death. I wonder how much the state gets? No doubt this was a real health crisis. The problem is that some really took advantage of it for non-medical reasons.

The virus is real indeed and the deaths have surely been underreported. Wearing masks would have knocked down those numbers by probably 90%. Test, track and trace works well when rolled out effectively but America doesn’t seem capable of it so the shutdown probably was pointless since there was nothing to transition to afterwards. It should be a wake up call to have something in place for the next pandemic

the complete lack of response to what we're learning every day. blanket, sweeping, knee-jerk generalizations still rule the day when it comes to public policy.

protect the elderly and the nursing home patients. they account for the majority of deaths.

99.4% of the population doesn't need the nanny state to protect them from this supposed grim reaper.

Sorry but I'm not buying that the number of COVID-19 deaths are under reported. Part of the price of freedom is having a bunch of people walking around who don't give a **** about rules or other people. Opening the bars in my area is already causing a spike in cases. In one instance a staff person at a bar tested positive and exposed a bunch of college aged people AND the usual bar hangers. Re-opening bars is going to cause a huge spike in positive cases I'm afraid. We'll see what it does to deaths and hospitalizations. I heard over the weekend that Sioux City was forced to send out patients to neighboring towns because their ICU is full of COVID-19 patients at least some of whom are from the Winnebago area. The reservations with all of the diabetes and obesity are going to be extremely hard hit.

So you would be in favor of getting all the rioters and looters off all the streets ASAP?? ...and we should tteat them as criminals who are endangering everyone around them? ...and all the stores that were allowed to stay open should not be, open?

the problem with the ICUs in Sioux City being full is if you live in the Sioux City area and have a heart attack or are in a motor vehicle accident and need an ICU bed your risk of dying is much higher now than a year ago (pre covid)

I'm not sure but I think they hold back a certain number of ICU beds for those instances. There's way they can deal with critical patients with staffing changes if need be. With all of the life flight options available, you can get to Omaha or Sioux Falls quickly if need be. It's much better than going to a rural hospital if things hit the fan. Sioux Falls is probably a 15 minute chopper ride to their heart hospital and Omaha maybe 30 -40 minutes?

absolutely true

meanwhile, here in Denver the Colorado Hospital Association is advertising EDs, urging anyone who had any conditions pre-covid come back for treatment. census is and has been extremely low.

so....now that we are closer to a normal season, can we resume the normal offseason thread topics? So, what's the new tunnel walk music gonna be this year?

Maybe base it off of "The Greatest Show" (highly sarcastic on that one, although the intro to it would be sweet to use in some aspect)

Look let's all just be real, the Coronavirus has been total garbage. It's been garbage the whole time and it's turned out now to be a complete joke. The media used it as a way to feed fear into an entire nation and a bunch of businesses aren't able to come back because of simply that, media induced fear. It's a bad flu and that's about it.

The average 19-23 year old college athlete faces as much or more risk from Influenza as they do COVID-19. Do we report every flu case occurring in college athletes? Do we shut them down and quarantine them and contacts? Do we shut down entire universities and sports for Influenza? Hell most of them I'm sure don't even get vaccinated for the flu. I'll give you that older profs and coaches have a higher risk of becoming seriously ill. They have a similar risk going to the grocery store and yet they're still out and about. This started as a legitimate health crisis but has morphed into a convenient weapon to advance a political agenda.

It's bad, really bad....so much so we can only let people out to riot. Otherwise, ya gotta stay inside.
