Who TF says this?

I was "in line" at the drinking fountain in 4th grade.

I was "in line" shaking hands after winning games.

I AM "IN-LINE" AT THE BANK!

I am "on-line" writing this rant.

I have never heard anyone say they were on line at the bank. Ever.

At my kids school they say "on recess" instead of "at recess." Kinda bugs me.

In New York, you wait on line to get a sandwich, to go in the theater, or to get to the teller. It took me a while to get used to the change, but in reality, isn't it functionally true that you stand on line vs. in line? How do you get in a line? Make the switch. Let it go.
