That's not enough. He's 9-37 from the floor (24%) this season including 0-7 from three. Freshman or not, we need more than that. We need guys that put the ball in the basket regularly. And a lot of them.

Started playing in 10th grade, work in progress.

Honestly, I've seen this good passing tag thrown around a lot, but the only times I notice his passing is when tries to get the ball into the post and it's always tipped away for a turn over. I'll keep my eye out going forward.

Agree with Colonel, need guys who can shoot the ball.
I think there is agreement among fans about the need for shooters but this was said in previous seasons without positive results.Perception matters and Rutgers futility in mens basketball has caused top tier recruits to look elsewhere.Complementary type recruits won't get the job done in the B1G as seen in the first 3 games this season.

this...there is no luxury of getting 4 years to develop anymore, this league has freshmen and sophomore contributing already. Eugene may turn into a solid player but he isnt going to be the type of player that RU finishes in the first half of the division with, Pikiell needs to recruit strongly in the next two years.

He took four shots and missed all of them and had two turnovers. I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you were looking at.

oh geez.. yes I know, he struggled finishing, that's why I said it in my original post.. the flashes I saw, were that he broke down his man and got to the rim fairly effectively in the second half.. obviously, if he continues to miss bunnies then it isn't worth a damn

Let's give Bullock a shot. Is he really red shirting?

I agree. At this point, I can't see him being any worst than Laurent who is giving RU nothing at this point.

Omoruyi is out there hustling but he's not providing anything on the offensive end either. And even Thiam has gone cold and isn't making much of a contribution.

Would like to see what Bullock can do instead of having him glued to the bench over struggling players.

If anything he'd be the 3rd strongest player out there after CJ Gettys/Doorson and could help bang inside some more.

And not for nothing but when Miles Bridges came to Roselle to play RC last year Matt held his own against him and had 22 points and 12 rebounds in a winning effort.

I think he's a little better than most think..especially if you don't think he can at least match Laurent's play at this point...

Kid is gonna be a player.. tough, good passer, and showed some good one-on-one moves, just needs to finish.
Yeah, that's all. He just needs to put the ball in the hole. That's not hard. Should be pretty easy. We'll add him to the list of other players we have who finally learned how to shoot.

I'd rather see more him and diallo and little to no freeman. Those two at least look like they can compete athletically and are younger

Diallo isn't a four but I definitely want to see him get more minutes at center. I like him much better than Doorson. I thought Sa was going to be a really valuable alternative to Freeman and Gettys with an ability to block shots and shooting range but it hasn't panned out. His stats are pretty ugly. Freeman has been bad and from what I've seen I'm not optimistic that he's capable of turning it around.

Stats thru Michigan State game. Parental discretion advised for some of these:

Coach likes this kid for a reason and Laurent only played 4 min last night. He is a gym rat and has good basketball skills. Sure its frustrating seeing him blow chippies but this kid is a staff development project. The time he's getting bodes well for next year. Let's watch his improvement as the season continues against the best competition.
He seems to be tough minded kid and hard worker. If coach had a better option, he wouldn't be getting the minutes.

I don't know if Eugene has the physical skills to compete at this level. I do know he has among the highest basketball IQ on the team. He has only been playing for 3-4 years, you can tell he is very smart and well coached.

Our assist total over the past 2 games is shockingly low. We have too much individual play and not enough looking for others. Eugene is an exception (Diallo might be in this category too.)

I do like the added wrinkle put in the offense of using back door cuts. Guy off the ball has a choice to take the handoff or go back door. Passer needs to identify at this level what works and what doesn't.

A little sarcasm here really is a realty check regarding the lack of shooters that has been a ongoing problem.Just snap your fingers and the problem will go away.

i don't want to see him or Sa take one more three pointer i can't take it.

put Laurent in there maybe his yips will eventually go away. he looks like he doesn't wants the ball most of the time. at least we have seen him drive and have somewhat of a slasher game.

Doorson shouldn't play anymore either

I like Omoruyi as a player. On the right team he would be a nice complementary glue guy. But the value of these scrappy defender/high IQ players is minimized when no one else on the team can shoot or finish around the basket.
