Competition may not be the issue as perhaps someone in his inner circle being in his ear telling him he is better than what Rutgers offers.

I am sorry if This offends anyone, but Less than a week ago he posts out of nowhere that he’s transferring, and five or six days later he’s already on an official visit elsewhere ...1500 miles away?!?

Sorry ...he has been lanning to transfer for a while now. No doubt in my Mind

And he was the captain of the team?

He is dead to me....glad he isn’t ever wearing the Rutgers jersey ever again.

Not sure why, but this kinda made me laugh. I guess I'm over it and also think we'll be fine.

Rutgers is going to be better than TAMU this year
No doubt. If he isn't taking a year off to get surgery on his knee then he went to help start a rebuild for one year. Doesn't really make sense except there are only 2 bigs on the roster that look like they got PT last year from a quick look at the roster. Multiple players transfer out. Going to take a couple years to rebuild so EO gets his one year with a more guaranteed role seems more likely. He's not going there bc they are a sure fire NCAA team that's for sure so it clearly wasn't about winning. If he doesn't get surgery than it wasn't that either. The remaining theory is scared of PT and even if he got minutes a reduced role on offense and less touches. Seems like the selfish me me me motive was most likely true

I don't think it offends anyone here....in addition, I don't think Eugene cares what Rutgers fans think. Yes, it's a business arrangement. He got a yearly scholarship and played every year at the best of his ability. He decided to move on. Now it's time for Rutgers and it's fans to move on.

It's big time athletics.....Yeboah was pursued because some are pretty certain EO was out the door weeks ago and not sticking around. Good luck to EO, anyone still out there defending him, good luck with that....

Yeah, the staff was stunned by this one. I don't think they were "pretty certain." They never would have announced that game and put Eugene in the press release if they were pretty certain.

It’s just sinking in what a lowlife Eugene really is. He hid it well...as did Thiam.

Welcome to the new world of College Basketball. Transfers all over and basketball is probably on the path to immediate eligibility...like football.

I am jealous of you guys who can easily assess blame and be mad at Eugene.

I am upset Eugene is gone and I think our odds of postseason are slim and I know Eugene is the one who left but there is a good chance this was avoidable. There was a reason he left and various members of the team and/or coaching staff could be a part of this.

Time for everyone to show up and come in to camp in shape and well conditioned. Don’t want to hear a guard has too many responsibilities and can’t play 35+ minutes and hit a wall.

The identity of Rutgers basketball is what Eugene brings on the defensive end. Who replaces that. The 2 games after OSU were disgusting from a defensive effort. That better not be the norm.

I hear ya but transferring is one thing.. tweeting you are leaving the only Major D1 school to give you an offer, after midnight without telling your coach, even misspelling your coach’s name is quite another. All this while being team captain and probably the fans’ favorite player.

Just speculation
Can't see Buzz starting of as A&M's HC bringing in EO as a 2 for 1.
Can see Eugene trying to get a waiver to play right away claiming being pressured to come back and play by Rutgers and jeopardizing his health.
Then Williams might be interested

How are they the dirty culprit?

I mean they certainly could have tampered but the prevailing thought on this board was that Providence tampered, all because a friend of Omoruyi's commented on his IG post, I don't recall anyone posting that they believed TAMU tampered.

It doesn't take long to schedule an OV with a transfer once he's in the transfer portal. Plus workouts have started so transfers need to find a school fast.

It’s lol funny that you try to assert blame to the players/coaches for EO bailing. Eugene is a big loser. You don’t quit by not telling anyone on the team and announcing it on Instagram after friggen midnight and after the program scheduled a game in your home city just for you.

Seems odd to me as part of a rebuild too but how can you try for a waiver with the reason being they wanted me to play this season.... And then play this season.

I guess get a second opinion from a different doctor or say rehab went better than expected?

He's a lowlife because he decided to transfer? Man, that is setting the lowlife bar exceptionally low.

Are kids supposed to post on social media "I'm thinking about transferring to another school. Decisions, decisions" so that fans won't be upset when they do transfer?

Come on man. There is no guidebook on " How to transfer".

He was in Canada, called Pikiell and then posted it. Maybe he could have done it a week earlier before leaving campus....But, maybe, just maybe he spoke to his Parents and others close to him while in Canada and then decided. Did you expect him to fly back to NJ to tell Pikiell face to face? Did you expect him to decide not to transfer because of the scheduled game in Canada?

The way waivers are handed out by the NCAA, any excuse for one might have a chance to succeed.
What would have been laughed at by the NCAA a few years ago seems to be something they might consider now

You don’t get it, do you? It’s not that he did it, it’s HOW he did it.

Like I said before, I’m not rooting for it to happen, but wouldn’t be upset if he busted his knee cap again.

Man on the floor. Child off the floor.

I'm not hoping you have a heart attack and live, but, I would not be upset about it.
