Why not just keep it to yourself then? We're here hoping for the best and a lot of us are interested in recruiting. No need to be so negative about the process, we've landed how many four stars under Pike and by most accounts have at least some shot here.
Nobody was being negative about the process nor what has been done thus far. The reality is like little at kids at Christmas it's nice to wish for things. It’s what we have seen happen at many schools but at Rutgers more so.So put those big boy pants on and maybe we will all get a nice surprise . What are YOU going to post if he does not sign here? Stop acting like this signing is the end of mankind. Right now much more serious things in the world.

Oturu is an offensive juggernaut. Cliff has a lot of work to do in that facet of his game.

So do I but I’m not concerned if he doesn’t . We as a team will be fine ...We have a very good coach and base.

I agree. Cliff would be huge. But if he doesn’t come here, RU still presents an excellent opportunity for some high level grad transfer to plug and play on an NCAA tournament bound team in the strongest conference in the country.

What happened with Montez Mathis recruiting? I don't recall the details on that one.

I have to believe one factor was, if Mathis wanted to play for an AAC team, versus playing in the big 10

I would guess that if Mathis came along three or four years in the future, and UConn was fully back in the
big east, we would have had a much harder time....we still might have landed him, but an even bigger struggle

Because I have been down this same road for over 55 years with Rutgers

what I can’t control I don’t waste precious energy on

Do you apply this philosophy to everything RU basketball related? If so, based on RU's win total in the last decade or so, I am not sure why you are watching. Hoping for improvement is really all we have had for many years. Hoping a 4 star recruit comes here is no different

Why do you have to dictate what someone can and cannot say? It is his opinion and you can give yours. Lol

Getting Cliff would be huge for this program both on the court and perception wise. Getting a good grad transfer or transfer may not have the same impact as getting Cliff to the banks as it would further legitimize our program in the eyes of recruits.

I think the fact that your coach, whatever he told the prospect and his “handlers” before the season became real and that goes a long way against the “bag”. It’s different when you can see the vision actually take place on the court.

It is very clear that there's still a lot of old school RU fans that are still stuck in the A-10, Big East mindset, where there was no revenue and no plan, no facilities when it comes to recruiting.

The fans still in denial or nervous because of Tim Thomas, Lance Thomas etc, just are not aware of what being in this new revamped conference means. We play elite programs, just like the Old Big East, but we did so without any revenue and the promise that once we got TV exposure and ESPN, all would be cured.

The new normal has moved past this and Cliff and Jaden Jones as a potential tandem of the next 2 recruiting wins, changes things....not because it makes RU any better than other B1G schools, it just keeps pace with our peers.

It comes down to mindset and the staff did the 1st thing needed in order to win.....they didn't listen to what didn't happen before or looked at history of RU....they just built a program with players that fit.

It is about belief in what you see and how important it is to ignore what haters or others outside are saying....the handful of negative RU fans have been conditioned to think one way....it's tough to break bad habits....but I wouldn't be critical of others that don't believe RU is going to make the dance, land Cliff or start next season in the Top 25.

Some people see evidence right there, others wait for someone else to tell them or confirm it for them. I don't see anything indicating why Cliff cannot pick RU, other than history, the boogeyman or listening to other fanbases that don't believe in RU.

Cliff to RU, feels like it fits, makes sense and there's a path for success here. RU is a successful basketball program today...and that counts for something here.

I’m thinking maybe jr year Cliff = sophomore year Otoru.

Not sure he gets to that level on offense as far as complete game. As RU82 says Oturu became an offensive juggernaut. In an older thread I even compared his offensive skill set to Bob McAdoo (for us old timers), not saying he is McAdoo but has qualities Bob did. But having seen Cliff, he doesn’t have bad form at all on his midrange shot. I can definitely see him getting better and better as he gets college training, game time, and confidence.

Bob McAdoo? I don’t know. That’s a real offensive juggernaut.

As I said, not McAdoo but has some qualities in his game that are McAdoo-ish. But very few are at McAdoo levels offensively all time.

Omoruyi or not, this team is still moving forward. With or without him, if team is kept as it is now, Rutgers still will come very close to making the tournament.

What is needed with what they currently have:

Mulcahy becomes a better outside shooter over the summer.
McConnell can start to play off the ball better, and quicken up his shot.

Please keep the political stuff to yourself. I know I speak for most people here (conservative or liberal), but we come to these boards to get a break from real life, including especially nasty political banter.

Thank you.
I agree. I would like to say that a few weeks ago I offered to help mod the boards

I figured he'd be too busy doing refinances right now. I'm thinking I should give him a call, actually.

I’m still allowed to follow basketball, there are always more serious things in the world. And if he doesn’t sign here I’ll keep following basketball and be disappointed for a while.

Not sure where you’re going with all of this but it’s very negative and “woe is me”.
WTF are you under 40 ? Who said anything about you not following basketball? The way things could go be happy if we have any sports by fall... He is NOT the Messiah of RU BB... the program is on a sound foundation ... Pike will try to close the deal and may already have done so...? sorry to rain on your personal parade ...Hope we get him but I ‘m not holding my breath over it... not everyone gets a Trophy. Others also are talking in the same terms. Learn to read.

You’re very angry. I am under 40. I don’t think I ever said he’s the messiah. I know Pike will try to close the deal, that’s how recruiting works. In this case nobody gets a trophy, they get a basketball player. I know how to read.

Hopefully I’ve addressed your points and your rage has subsided.
Not angry at all but you seem to be offended that I ‘m not over the moon losing Cliff if he doesn’t pick Rutgers...Like I said I have been an RU fan ‘67 ...then student,,,,then season ticket holder for both football and basketball ...oh and women’s BB under Grentz and Vivian...before you were born I bled scarlet ...I hope for your sake son Cliff doesn’t burst our bubble ...have a great nite and stay away from us old folks unless it’s to help...

I am wondering why the announcement isn't moved up since there are no schools or other facility open for making the announcement.

The announcement is now only one week from tomorrow. Does anyone know what time Cliff is announcing at Roselle Catholic and if the announcement is open to the public? I only live a few minutes from Roselle Catholic and might be interested in attending the announcement.

If schools are closed for classes I doubt they will open for this.

Not dictating, just asking a question. I don’t really see the value in coming to a basketball message board and then criticizing basketball talk, but that’s just me.

So you are saying that we shouldn’t criticize basketball talk on a message board? Lol

Superfan01, Judging by your insensitive comment, you must be a fun guy to be around?
Lol. What did I say that was insensitive? We’re in lockdown if you haven’t noticed. There isn’t going to be a public announcement where you can just show up too. Guesing he will make some sort of social media announcement. What else can he do?

now with that said. Come on Cliff to RU

I wonder if Cliff has already decided or if he wanted to give himself until this Sunday to finalize the decision in his own mind. It may be that he’s truly conflicted on which way to go, so he he’s given himself this deadline to work it out.
