Any stated reason why? Weather? Sunshine here in Minnesota...

No weather issues in Denver today, although there have been a lot of flights cancelled this week because of aircraft getting grounded by the effects of the hurricane. You would think this plane would just go back and forth between Omaha and Denver, but that's not always the case with Southwest.

Maybe the gate staff and the flight crew don't have "unity of purpose"?

That’s funny. Any planes flying that route would travel to several locations every day. Nonstop OMA to DEN is not that significant.

For anyone unaware, you can text yourself the airline code and flight number, e.g., WN1234 (Southwest flight 1234) and see all stops for that flight number during the day. I texted myself the flight in question WN1562. It arrived at each stop including PHX to OMA, then had the Denver leg cancelled so that suggests either equipment issues on ground in OMA or problems expected in DEN — and I see DEN is getting hammered this afternoon.

Weather is getting nasty in the city right now. DIA definitely has some storm issues incoming.

Yeah the thunderstorms are moving through Denver a little earlier than usual today, so that might have been it. Looks pretty clear to the west though, so they might not last into the evening.

Flights out of Des Moines and Chicago pushed back. Wonder if they will be cancelled eventually as well.

Denver area is good, must be trouble Omaha way?

Biggest thunderstorm I’ve seen in 15 years in Centennial just south of Denver. Tornado warnings just went off.

On a positive note, no rain any more in the Boulder forecast tomorrow!

Downtown Denver lucked out. Barely a sprinkle here, though a fair amount of thunder. Looks pretty dark over DIA right now but hopefully that won’t last too long.

I think there was a lot of hail that just hit Denver.
Big hailstorm west of the city but I don’t think it made it down the hill. Lots of dark pockets right now so I see why there are delays. Doesn’t really seem like a day that would cause outright cancellations though
