Got an example of a parent "putting a stop to it" in a sensible, adult, non-violent way and then being arrested for transphobia?
I agree. Free country, though, and they don't hurt anything besides a minor blow to my enjoyment of events. And I don't know why somone would turn on the olympics opening ceremony and expect everything included to align with their tastes.
Yep. They suck, but they're still out there. Best way to deal with them is to ignore them, avoid them, and/or mock them, depending on what floats your boat.
If you're an American, evangelical conservative, an event put on in a western european capital for a global audience is probably going to include some stuff you find distasteful. Maybe just skip the ceremony and watch the sports? I've been sick for several days and thus have more time watching live during the day than in recent years. It's been a great distraction.

Those are all examples of parents who want to dictate their child's identity, not those who want to protect their kids from others dictating. No one has a right to do so, not even parents.

Yep, and then it boils down to mental health problems, which a majority of this stems from. But when that child was born the doctor said “congratulations, it’s a boy.”
The parents do not have to acknowledge or accept that child’s right “to up and switch” gender identity/pronouns, etc… they just have to keep loving that child and if that’s not enough, try to get them the help they need.

The help they need… to keep conforming to the parent’s ideal of who they’ll grow up to be. I want my kid to grow up and quarterback the Huskers to 4 straight nattys. But more than that I want them to grow up into a kind, successful person who treats the people around them well. I don’t spend any more time obsessing over their gender identity than I do their favorite sport.
I’m against such operations regardless of parental consent.
Referring to puberty blockers as chemical castration is pretty disingenuous. The whole point is to push the decision down the road until the kid is older and can make a more informed decision for themselves, in collaboration with their doctors/therapists/etc. Again, the parents’ preference means little to me. I’m just as against parents pushing their kids into blockers or operations as I am against them standing in the way of it or sending them to “conversion therapy.”

It doesn’t have to be that binary. There’s room between “cut off dicks at 11” and “block puberty till 18, then decide.” I think we should let people who are trained to make decisions like that - you know, doctors and mental health specialists - on a case-by-case basis.

And you should. But even though doctors used to think diseases came from “bad air,” if I get sick I’m gonna ask my doctor what to do, and not my dad.
hopefully you have a good doctor, which is hard to know as well due to the cookie cutter process they are made by these days
