Never watched one before, but it’s on in the office. WTF am I watching? Are they all this weird? I’ve seen some squid game/assassins creed cosplayer do parkour with a torch, a bunch of headless Marie Antoinette’s singing, and some bisexual foreplay (insert jerrynottheresanythingwrongwiththat.gif). The outdoor team parade on the Seine is cool. The rest of it seems….something.

I have it on at the office as well. Kudos to the French for doing something different and "out of the box" in not doing the typical stadium thing. It would probably suck to be there in person as the athletes on parade and the entertainment seem to be a long distance from the spectators. The Opening Ceremonies can get a little weird but it is a showcase of the culture of that nation. London 2012 was pretty epic in my opinion as well at Beijing 2008. The weirdess can be summed up by the silence of Peyton Manning I suppose. NBC is paying him to commentate and I don't think he has said two words since the initial intro.

I didn't watch, however, flexing with 'remember that time we cut our queen's head off?' is not on my bingo card.

I'm watching, and think it's ok. A little avant garde, sure. But...they're French.

In typical French fashion they overdid it. Much of it was great, an equal amount was WTF?

The Olympic Flame in a Cauldron suspended from a hot air balloon? And yes I get the history, but still... Put it in the damned stadium.

Stadium wasn't even a part of tonight. Stade de France is in Saint Denis which is back towards the Olympic Village right at 10 miles from the Eifel

I left the office around the time the parade of nations was wrapping up. Must’ve been a doozy with all the people who swore they weren’t gonna watch tweeting about the evil satanic rituals

I’m just glad they were able to hold a trans Last Supper, that really brings out the Olympic spirit.

There's a lot of people on Twitter demanding that Kamala Harris condemn the opening ceremony, so I'm assuming it must have made somebody feel tingly in a way they found inappropriate.

No I didn't say you were. Didn't mean to imply it Your post just shed light on the moral outrage I'm seeing on Twitter, which is definitely coming from the right. I just hadn't seen anyone specify what it was that was so outrageous.
