Hey guys:

Come watch the game with us --- signal brought to you by an actual satellite dish! We can't wait to see everyone again. Nothing better than game day!

Loud game sound, cold beer, and good pub food.

We'll be giving away a Weber Q to someone in attendance along with tons of shirts and other goodies.

Say hi if you're stopping in!

GO RU!

Has anyone actually called OB to confirm that they actually get the PAC-12 Network? I nominate InGregITrust to contact the proprietor to find out for sure. j/k

Heh-heh... pretty sure the Olive Branch proprietor has already confirmed the bar has the RU-UW game.

I think we need to come up with a sarcasm meter emoji.
Maybe. But you'd think the "j/k" would have served that purpose. I often stick a smiley face in for the same reason.

Thing is, sarcasm is much better when it's not 100% certain it's sarcasm.

And this is what I was talking about the other day...

Not only do we need to know who is showing the game (and where) but also need to know the names of the places who gave responses like Stuff Yer Face allegedly did.

A ScarletNation anti-Yelp if you will.

I've been advocating the use of a sarcasm font for a while now. Although sarcasm usually should be pretty obvious to a number of people.

That being said, what confuses me isn't that people though brodo was serious, it's that rusojo thought he might be new? Hasn't rusojo been around long enough to know of brodo? Even without the j/k I'm stunned anybody didn't get this sarcasm.

If that's really true then a couple of guys should step up and pay the bar the lousy $175 and ask everyone just buy them a beer.
I really hope a bar on campus isn't that stingy for a football game that nobody else can show. Is that why they haven't updated or refreshed a single thing in that place for 20 years?

Right? Though nobody but the establishment should have to pony up anything. How much business have they had over the years from the Rutgers community??

Don't you like the same sticky tables and chairs that were there 20 years ago? And that may be 30 years.

I was there 30 years ago, back when it was known as Patti's.

"The Original Stuff Yer Face Circa 1977 At 43 Easton Avenue Home to the Stromboli from 1977-1982"

They celebrated their 38th Anniversary in 2015. Were they not in their currently location in 1986. I remember going when I was at RU 1985-89, but my memory is fuzzy if the location moved. Also remember they had a location in East Brunswick on Route 18 for a while.

Easton Ave needs a real true, large, fresh sports bar / big hangout for students. I'm sure the economics of serving $3 beers are not great to college students, but every bar is practically unchanged, un-updated for what seems more than my lifetime. Don't want it to mean it as a knock to anyone here involved with these bars but more looking for an understanding.

I went to the Michigan game last year and hung out at multiple bars and was super impressed. This isn't the type of thing that matters by football success either, Rutgers is similar size population and probably more densely centralized than students in Ann Arbor are.

The Easton Ave location only draws students from what I recall. Students have no money and like you said would scoff at anything other than cheap pitchers. I'm not sure the economics of a high end sports bar, with a bunch of High Def tvs and good sound systems work in a location like that. It seems it would need to be attractive to local urban professionals too, which I'm not sure really exist in much volume there.

You are right though - I graduated in 1991 and was on Easton Ave for dinner last week and except for all of the now ethnic restaurants (Indian, Lebanese, etc.) it felt like it was 1990 all over again.

Agreed the economics might be the issue, but Easton Ave is slowly turning around. Many other campuses our size have figured out how to make it work with population areas much smaller and poorer than ours. I think if you get a quality place and Easton Ave continues to add new and improved spaces , you could easily attract a day crowd of alumni, professors, RU staff, local business people . I know George St. has staked a claim for a lot of that and that's been a great turn around. I just think the campus deserves something people can be a little prouder of and excited about other than for nostalgia's sake.

Spot on. Me and my buddy, also a 1991 alum, wanted to hit New Brunswick for an RU feel and have a decent dinner and chill at a good pub type place. We tried to go to a few Easton Ave places but they were just too low end and gravitated down to George St.

Anybody want to go in with me and buy the Corner Tavern (corner of Easton & Somerset), where its so run down that students who live around it won't even go in. Its actually one of the bigger spaces and its right smack in the middle of Easton Ave apartments, Scarlet Fever, frats, Train Station/Barnes & Noble.

I like Stuffs and between friends and family, we go there at least a few times every year.

But if I'm going out to watch an RU football away game, then there's no place I'd recommend more than the Olive Branch. Pretty sure @RU848789 and the rest of our tailgate crew would agree.

I would guess this thought has gone through the head of at least 25% of our alumni base who has lived/spent time on College Ave.

They have no interest in selling and no interest in expanding the business beyond their regulars.
