Agree 1000% percent...our inability to call (and execute) 5 yard in or sideline routes like most normal teams is 2nd in frustration only to our reluctance to running fade routes inside the opp 10 to our 6-4 or 6-5 WR or 6-9 TE....perplexing.Our offensive line was terrible, but the times Adrian held a ball for 5 seconds and Frosts lack of short routes amplified more than it needed to be.
Or an occasional middle screen. I also would like to remind people that last year line was extremely inexperienced and had no real leadership in the unit. They will all be a year older with experience next season.Oh I believe we have the players on the OL that can produce they just need coaching up which I expect will happen this year.
I worry about leadership. Jurgens seemed ok and Sichterman was the elder statesmen, but without them, whoās leading that room?I also would like to remind people that last year line was extremely inexperienced and had no real leadership in the unit. Agree 100%. Prochazka, Cocoran, even Benhart were top Oline recruits. There's several other guys who had decent ratings. We have more than enough talent to put together a decent Oline.I am in the camp that believes we have very very good talent at the O-Line position but our former coach was beyond awful. I believe if Riola is just an average coach the line will be much better.

And that wasn't going to happen if Frost hadn't fired our former OL coach. I don't know how good our OL under the guidance of Raiola will be this year but I expect it to be better than what we've seen in the past under Austin.I so badly want to see some attitude and nastiness on the OL! A swagger that exudes a position of power and keeps DL up at night before a game...
Sichterman was older but still very inexperienced in playing time. He really only played on special teams and mop up duty before last year. And Cam was too much of a hot head to offer advice when guys went in to panic mode.I worry about leadership. Jurgens seemed ok and Sichterman was the elder statesmen, but without them, whoās leading that room?
Itās a question I ask about other position groups also. Each year, leadership often garners less attention than the up and coming talent discussion.
Itās always nice to have solid leadership in each position room.
If Cocoran or Benhart had went to another school and played the exact way up to this point and they transferred to Nebraska today, weād all be celebrating. Weād be talking about how bad *** our O-line is. Think itās funny that we believe a back up for Okie Lite will be able to start day one, just cause heās new.Agree 100%. This. Am couldn't throw a screen pass to save his lifeOr an occasional middle screen. One of the ways you slow down an overly aggressive pass rush.
But there's a zero percent chance our QB could have executed it properly and a higher than average chance it would have been floated for a pick 6, so one more tool to help out the offense left out.
a fire breathing *** kicking oline coach will make this a better than average groupAgree 100%. Prochazka, Cocoran, even Benhart were top Oline recruits. There's several other guys who had decent ratings. We have more than enough talent to put together a decent Oline.
agree that Austin was not getting the most of our players, but a few upgrades here and there are needed.I am in the camp that believes we have very very good talent at the O-Line position but our former coach was beyond awful. From Anthony's Okie State page
2019 (Freshman): Saw action in nine games and started four. Rotated in for important stretches of nearly every game during the second half of the season.
2020 (Sophomore): Opening day starter at right tackle who was nearly lost for the season after sustaining an injury in week one ... Missed eight contests, but returned for the regular-season finale and for the bowl game.
Looks like he spent 2021 as a backup at guard or tackle. So his story looks more like headed for life as a long term starter, the injury, then life as a backup. So he is transferring for a chance to play more.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he already graduate and wanted to start a masters program in a field that NU is strong in? Some guys actually do things for an academic reason.I do believe Okie State graduated 2-3 starting OL though. Why not stay and battle for an opportunity there?

Actually I found a Rivals article where he says that he has graduated and will be seeking a masters in sports management. It looks to me like OkieState doesn't offer a masters in that.I would correct, or commend, you if I knew the answer.
If so great for him

My senile old brain every now and then remembers something it encounters. Getting a guy with starting OL experience at a P5 program can't be a horrible thing. Then I will give credit where credit is due. Nice work dinglefritz. I really hope heās a good Husker.
But somehow to some it is.My senile old brain every now and then remembers something it encounters. Getting a guy with starting OL experience at a P5 program can't be a horrible thing.
He was good enough to start as a freshman for a pretty damned good team. After an absence it might have been pretty tough to get his spot back from a guy of equal physical talent. I understand the concern about taking other team's backups but he has shown he can play at a P5 level. I'm not sure some of our O linemen can say that yet. Okie State was at least being considered for the playoff. Clearly at least part of his motivation is his academic pursuit. IF he wanted to continue to play at Okie State he would have either had to delay graduation while taking a bunch of irrelevant courses or enter a graduate program that wasn't his first choice. The odds of any of these guys playing in the NFL are so low that he's smart to get after the masters that he wants. But somehow to some it is.
If the desire to play in the league is there and things break his way, great. If not, he has a degree more relevant to his interests. The odds of any of these guys playing in the NFL are so low that he's smart to get after the masters that he wants.
such a huge understatement! makes me scratch my head sometimes...If the desire to play in the league is there and things break his way, great. If not, he has a degree more relevant to his interests.
NU has had Olinemen playing in the NFL that didn't particularly knock it out of the park when they played in Memorial. So who knows what will happen with the kid.
