Your last paragraph puts into perspective very much that your reality isn't actual reality.
my last paragraph is supported by stats (fact)

something you've expressed zero interest in while deferring to your feelings about the OL and their coach as Truth

statistically the OL has performed in line with their performance last season despite adding new players and a year of experience

injuries! year 1! playing out of position! yadda yadda yadda, excuse excuse excuse

The yards per carry average doesn't support your argument

The yards per carry average doesn't support your argument
prior to Saturday, we were averaging about half a yard more per non-QB carry than last year over a full season

of course we've yet to play most of the best defenses on the schedule

I will update this number shortly

UPDATED Non-QB YPC after last week:

2022: 4.5 ypc
2023: 4.7 ypc

same sack rate, 0.2 ypc better with two of the three best defenses we face still coming up

go ahead and hang your hat on this as "improvement" requisite of praise if you wish. the OL is by far our most experienced group on offense and the only group with familiarity with their position coach.

I will call it what it is - the disappointing same

We’re attempting 10 less passes per game and being sacked the same amount

Every unbiased quantitative measure says the line sucks as bad or worse than they did last year
Never mind our QB doesn't see downfield very well. Not a knock, that just isn't his strength.

So the ypc average is better, with a younger oline. Way to go Donnie.

younger? this is by far the most experienced group and the only one that added an instant-impact transfer

we averaged 3.2 ypc on Saturday with the "younger" OL (purdue averaged 3.3)

this is what people who value feelings over fact often look like when they express their thoughts

thanks for the demonstration, johnny

Really? How many seniors started on the oline Saturday?

What facts? You're the ultimate feelings guy.

now you have to be a senior to have experience?

benhart has started what, two dozen games for us? more? guy got ragdolled for 60 mins.

scott has started what, two dozen games in his career? can't snap the ball when the D jumps offsides which would've saved a turnover and a defensive TD?

lot of mental gymnastics on display

You mean the offensive line that was providing a yards per carry average higher than the previous year?
yep.

and providing the same sack rate as the previous year despite being the only group to add an immediate impact player and being the only group to retain their coach.

your expectations for the OL's performance appear to be much lower than your expectations elsewhere despite the continuity and experience, but, again, this has much more to do with your feelings than anything else.

The feelings talk is awful rich from you.

So again, the oline that is playing better than last years Oline.

I'm using the "facts" you're providing

sack rate has now dipped below last year's line after last week, as well.

but, we all know that's not the line's fault.

hang your hat on that .2 ypc "improvement" if you like. I suppose a D- is better than an F. after all, that's .8 more yards per 4 downs. almost enough to register in the stat sheet!

considering the continuity, experience and addition of an immediate starter, that group's performance thus far has been a disappointment.

Regardless of what Rhule has done in the past, if he is satisfied with Raiola and values the relationships Raiola has built in the Oline room, Raiola will be retained. The Oline is what it is (or was what it was). In the glass half full category, three younger players had to start this past Saturday and the Oline faced two very active OLBs is Jenkins and Scourton. I didn't see any substantial drop off in play, and the Oline did enough to put 24 points on the board. These three guys are going to be better players by the end of the season and will be veterans going into next season.
Raiola should get a chance to coach the kids that he has had a substantial time to develop.

Are sacks always on the oline? Like Saturday for example, at least 2 sacks were on HH.

nope.

just like everything in football, there's nuance.

at this rate of improvement, maybe next year we'll gain a full additional yard per four downs!

You've never made a post on this board that included nuance.
yea.

that's why you read every word I write.

who the f comes to message boards to see: "we'll see", "it's the coach's/AD's decision", "who knows", etc?

I have an opinion and I express it.

nuance is implied and contrary to what most say about me, I enjoy and learn from different points of view.

Poor kong, reduced to going through my posting history.

By the way Rhule says 2 of the 3 sacks were on HH. Pretty good outing for Donnie and his young oline group.

here's an interesting tidbit as to how our OC feels about nepo donnie's young oline group:

And when the Huskers got to the 1-yard line, Satterfield didn’t try to force power with a youthful offensive line. Instead, the Huskers lined up twice in the shotgun, and Haarberg fired a sidearm throw to Thomas Fidone for the score on second down.

Rhule spoke well of Raiola yet again in his PC. I think he liked how Raiola did his business during the interim period when the staff was being assembled, and having a blue-chip QB recruit as a nephew didn't hurt. His remarks today tell me Rhule thinks Raiola is a guy he can handle himself on the sideline and keep the players in a next play/next series mentality. A solid guy and a professional.

They threw to a kid with a gaping catch radius on a very well designed play when PU thought up the gut, and you take that as shade at Raiola.

and I believe he's treating don as the lowest performing member on a staff where he's already the odd man out
