Now we’re qualifying starting by saying he won’t win the job. Did Heinrich “win the job”? Sims and Purdy were both injured when Heinrich was inserted.
If he didn’t win the job he wouldn’t be playing now that Sims is healthy

Damn. Have you not watched Heinrich try to pass the ball? How many more batted down passes and INTs is it going to take for you to realize the silliness of your position? As evidenced by the depth chart at the end of fall camp, there isn’t a large gap between Heinrich and Purdy in the minds of the guys who coach them. Heinrich has been the healthiest.

I wouldn't say HH won the job, he just proved to be the best option brought on by injuries. Would HH be playing if Sims hadn't been injured. What about if Chubba wasn't also injured at the time? HH was the default QB at the time and that's just the honest truth, nothing against HH. It is what it is.
And now? Still the default qb despite both being healthy?

HH isn't world beating, but some people on here have proven to be self aggrandizing dorks for making it their mission to "expose" him.
Like what gives? There's hard skills vs soft skills. Sure, Sims likely has somewhat better hard skills than HH. But the soft skills between the two are nowhere even close.

I think we will get to see if Piper and Corcoran suck as bad as some think. And if Teddy is who some think he is. I don't know enough to have a valuable opinion, but I saw some terrible "blocks" early season from Corcoran, but a few from Teddy as well.

Teddy looked OK before the injury his freshman year. The guys coming are not the starters and not as experienced as the starters, but I don't think there is a big drop off in talent level. The upside for all three is probably higher than the guys they are replacing.
Weird that I've never heard anything but Rhule and Raiola being pretty sympatico in terms of approach to coaching the Oline.

as Satt said, he's extremely hands-on, and with his OL experience, it's why he could gamble on retaining the #1 recruit's uncle in hopes we land him
now that uncle nepotism failed, he's dead weight and Rhule can bring in someone he's familiar with who has actual proven coaching/recruiting experience

If you weren’t such a blind devotee of HH you might get more rational responses. HH is a gamer, fast, and tough as nails. But to ignore he looks like Dan Quisenberry when he throws, or that he hasn’t learned how to pitch on the option is goofy.
We have only recruited one out of state OL that is rated - but he has elite potential. So far Raiola hasn't recruited that well, but it will come down to if Rhule thinks he can develop the in-state OL we have and will keep getting.
I don't ignore those things. HH has a long way to go with regards to development. the physical and mental tools are there. kid's played 5 games 3 years after playing C1 ball and being an afterthought for our loser previous regime.
I do wonder why you posted this in response to an OL statement, but it's noted nonetheless.
What about Pyle? He's an Army All-American.
He has only brought in one 4 star & the rest 3 stars in his less than 2 recruiting cycles. Still too early to tell what happens with them but on paper they look pretty good. Average rating over the last cycle per 247 Sports of 87.40.
Chris Wiesehan, on the other hand, has never recruited a 4 star, according to 247 Sports. His OL recruits over the last cycle averaged 82.97.
Wiesehan has more experience than Raiola and most of his OL recruits come from the Philadelphia PA region.
I'm not saying Raiola is better than Wiesehan but I think it's way too early to say he hasn't recruited that well. I believe Raiola is also credited for bringing Ben Scott from AZ St. That doesn't get included in his recruiting numbers.

2. 8 NFLers in 6 total years as Temple's OL coach: 16 total years as an OL coach & close to 30 years as a college coach. Too early to tell on Raiola. Edit to add: Greg Austin put 3 OL in the NFL in 4 seasons.
3. Fair point. He's been a coach at ND & UCLA, though not OL. He's been OL at Temple, Hawaii & Syracuse.
