So if they adopted that name, and then there really was a bad flood that killed a bunch of people, wouldn't it be considered insensitive? Who would pick a name like that in 2020?

I think I heard Richard Cross say yesterday that they will probably have to drop “Rebels” sooner or later but were drawing the line when it came to “Ole Miss”

Well, that's their issue to deal with. The flag was our albatross as well so I'm glad its finally being taken care of. Actually, I'm all for them keeping the Rebel name since its probably to our advantage.

This. Let them keep their stupid name. Anything that makes them look bad helps us right?

I don't think it will matter now if it hasn't mattered since the 60's. Amazing what those backpacks can do.

Absolutely. I hope they never change.

Relative to OM, I like the position MSU is currently in.

Kylin Hill is being made out to be a hero in the national media, and we seem to have weathered the storm as far as all this relates to MSU athletics. We’ll see if anything happens with the Stephen D. Lee stuff, I lean toward no and I’m not sure anything should happen, but I’m not sure that’s a huge deal either way, and it’s not really an athletic issue at this point. Even if it becomes one then it’s probably a simple resolution.

Ole Miss, on the other hand, is about to have to dig in their heels and potentially fight a large PR battle over the Ole Miss Rebels name. And if they do change things, it will alienate a very large portion of their fan base.

Agree.

I'm gonna fix myself a big bowl of popcorn, kick back and enjoy watching this happen.

As long as they can buy players that will probably not change. Although the SEC could put pressure on them to change it.

y'all know good and dang well the national media is going to say the Ole Miss Bulldogs. We shouldn't be so happy to watch this flame out.

I'd be willing to bet that if they do change the name Ole Miss, it will be some other non-University of Mississippi name such as The University at Oxford...

Way back when the Egg Bowl was still played in Jackson, I was once greeted at Northpark the evening before the game by Colonel Rebel. This was my initial response to his offer of a handshake...
