My father was a tanker in World War II in Korea. I was an artillery man in the 80s 90s and we both have military history so I may look it up. I know quite a bit about tanks

I don't know the whole story as I used to spend most of my time on the old board on Wildcat Lair and The Paddock, but IIRC he got sideways with a group of posters and/or mods and quit the board / got banned(?)
I believe He quit the board. His profile is still active; however, he hasn't been over here since the changeover. I sent him a private message a few weeks ago- no response yet.
I’ve been mostly a lurker from the dial up days. Grad of late 70s and again in early 80s. Spent ALOT of time watching “The Door” - was living in Memphis at the time - folks there were pissed! Big fan of Pope as a player. His intro here was pretty exciting to me after the “ generational wealth” emphasis and associated malaise of the later Cal days. Some of you feel like neighbors and associates even though we’ve never even chatted. Love Kentucky basketball and y’all lend a lot of info I cannot find elsewhere. Thank you for that!
Rainman was ok, but back then they were on this super ego trip about their value to the UK program. His mods were mostly asses and any slight against UK would get a thread deleted or you suspended. They were responsible for banning so many posters the banned people started Dynasty Defenders which ended up getting national attention for slamming UK -- everything Rainman's board was against. Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees. They also really really pushed the pay board, and people on the pay board would tell the mods to ban people on the free board. It was his board so he had a right to run it the way he saw fit, but in the end he created more problems for UK than he solved. For example if you were pro UK you got to talk trash to anyone and get away with it. If you weren't 100% Ok with everything UK was doing, even if you followed the board rules, they labeled you an "agenda" poster and banned you. They never understood that no matter how hard you tried to tell them - they were just motivating people to go that much harder against UK while chasing off their revenue stream. But in a way they were the blueprint for KSR to follow - a pro UK site that got you access, They just never got access.

there was more moderation then than there is now (there isn't any now), but the LOD was still in full effect. If you are talking about KATMAN2000 he came off as unhinged. That or a 13yr old trying to be edgy.
This may have already been mentioned but the Brady/Kramer dispute over the latter's non-participation in a Clash of Clans meeting with their kids was pretty funny to read on a Sunday morning one time.

The decision to ban dissenting opinion was a mistake and if the goal to help UK by squashing opposing voices, they created a vacuum that was filled by very determined people. The LOD was not in full effect on Rainman's board. There was absolutely no dissenting opinion allowed. There is at least 1 person here who I believe was a Mod back then. I'm sure he'd agree with at least my stance on the degree of moderation and allowed speech, if not with my opinion on resulting outcomes.

I have been a member there since shortly after Katman started Dynasty Defenders. For awhile, DD was moderated very much pro Tubby, but dissenting viewpoints were allowed if you had tough enough skin to handle the blowback. When Katman turned, he turned seriously though.
I've taken a licking but have kept on ticking. Lurked since late 1990s but joined in 2006 I believe. Have hardly posted at all since the big change over.
I know its out of scope of the topic a bit, but what has become of Zipp on the UL board? Man you talk about wars. He battled everyone. There was that one time he used a pic of a little kid in UK gear and posted it on the UL board and the kids dad was actually on rafters and he was big mad about it. It was a whole thing. Then we see Zipp on the news holding a Jurich banner lol. He had a video of him pushing an old lady in a pool but it wasn't actually him and he was suing someone over some parking spaces at his condo. Just wild stuff all around.
Nothing beats the UNC fan on the main board who put up a pic of his "girlfriend" to flex about how hot she was. It took everyone about 10 seconds to realize the girl was actually a social media influencer and he made the whole thing up. He should have nuked his account right then and there but he chose to double down. It was actually hard to watch.
I was Ska42 on the AOL board back in the day. Whatever became of UKBob? Or Hack? Do they still post on the premium board?
I used to bowl in a league with zipp and his wife. Once I knew he was in the league, I wore UK gear every week. For all his bluster on the internet he never said a damn word to me in person and he had plenty of chances.
He whined occasionally, but I also liked LMDCat. And GhostVol was a cool dude. Whatever happened to him?
