Cool to see so many of the old timers on here. Lots of fun memories. :)

I started on the AoL board. Was mainly a lurker for a long time though.

I remember the first thread I ever started was about Reggie Hanson signing a 10 day contract with the Celtics back in 98.
I was on the AOL board for a long time too, along with my hubby
If you remember the Grandstand chat rooms..I was a chat room host on there

Let’s see - mudererofcrows welched on a 500 dollar bet about our football teams win/loss

there is one poster here who was a man of his word and paid a lost bet over The ucla/uk tournament game but I’m not going to pour salt on that wound but idk if he’s been seen here or not.

I remember one guy in the political thread I riled up so bad he posted his paycheck stubs to prove he was rich. Then everyone made fun of him for doing it and he actually started to be a decent poster/person.

That was JohnKBA/Stan the Caddy. Also known as the Canadian. He posted his W2 but he was far from a good person. He would “fake it” occasionally I guess but the reason he went from JohnKBA to Stan the Caddy is because he called Clarence Thomas the “N” word and got banned.

It’s funny to think back to getting started on the board that led to this one. For me, it was the summer of 1996, a couple months after Pitino’s championship. I was working with a Syracuse fan who’d been a good sport about the championship game, figuring they had no chance.

A couple months later he comes to me and says, “Looks like Kentucky is going to beat out Boeheim again for Magloire.” I’d never heard the name Magloire and asked him how he knew these things. And he told me about this Kentucky board -he watched it because it was much more knowledgeable than Syracuse’s board. I literally had no idea there was such a thing as an internet fan board. But he showed me how to find it, and how to sign up.

Crazy. Now that I think about it that was almost exactly 30 years ago!

Remember that guy that posted under his real name about how he was mistreating patients at a care facility (medical facility)….. who then got fired over it?

I’ve been around here and on the previous Rupp’s Rafters board for 20+ years. I don’t post much but visit daily and sometimes several times a day. I lived in Alabama for 15 years and hence my name of ala_kat2. Now back in my home state of KY. I’ve been a UK fan since 1960.

LOL I hated that guy, I have always been mostly a lurker but arguing with him would bring even me to post
He was an odd dude. He could post for long periods of time and act like a normal person and then you disagreed with him on the smallest thing and he’d turn into a lunatic. There’s actually someone on here now that does the same thing. lol

seemed like every year tubby would lose 10+ games, and make a sweet 16 and sign 4 3 star recruits. He'd always be there to tell you how great that was.

@Bkocats @BBUK

who was the poster who paid the funeral expenses? There was a go fund me set up to reach a specific goal, and it was like $7000 away from target, and this poster noticed it and paid the final $7G himself. Guy has an avatar of himself in an off road truck and wearing a big hat maybe? Legend for that.
Womramp or something like that … from the avatar description.
