Did I just read in OWH this morning that the Huskers could still go to a bowl game with 5 wins as in 2016?

If mike riley can win a bowl game with a 5 win regular season then surely Frost can as well

beat Iowa at home and we won’t have to worry

6 spots open, 12 others only need to win one game to be eligible, plus Missouri who needs a win and an appeal to play in the bowl. If not enough teams win enough, it goes to APR where we sit behind Boston College and Ohio. It’s highly unlikely that would happen.

On a side note Oregon State was 2 1/2 minutes from bowl eligibility up 11 points before giving up a TD, getting stopped on a 4th and 4, giving Washington State the ball back with a short field. WSU scores with 1 second left and now OSU must beat Oregon to make a bowl.

I know he’s no longer there, but that is such a Mike Riley way to lose a game

They went for the 4th down with 1:10 left, failed and left WSU with only 58 yards to go and 0 timeouts, punt that ball and make them go 80+.

Doesn't tOSU have to forfeit games #2 played in. If so we alreadyhave 6. They will probably wait until after the season though to make them forfeit.

Yes they could, it happened with a Mike Riley team that went 5-7. It very well could happen again and I’d have no bones with it if it did. Myself, I’d rather knock off Iowa and just Guarantee the Bowl bid I’ve hoping we back into a bowl game.

Lowering the standards is a mike Riley thing to do

no clue what you mean by this? Dudes just asking if it’s possible and if OWH was correct. Doesn’t mean we are fine with it and that we are lowering our standards. Like it or not, it’s the truth. It could happen. And for our younger players getting more practices and more playing time...I’ll gladly take it. But in no means am I happy with the 5-7 finish (assuming we lose to Iowa and not win). But I’ll gladly take the bowl game if it still happens. GBR

that’s exactly what I’m hoping for. We have seen some good progress being made the past several games and we seem to have found a grove. If we can keep punching it into the end zone and finish our drives...we will definitely have a fighting chance of beating Iowa. Crossing my fingers...GBR!!!

Assuming graduation rates and peaking order of 5 win programs?

Maybe possible, but a week ago, didn't project well per HuskerOnline.
