LMAO.
Btw, 11 pts, 13 rebounds, 7 blocks against seton hall who just manhandled UConn.
It’s a pretty good indicator he’s not hurt Scarlet.
The chronic injury, on and off pain, loosening and stiffening is the definition of an older player with lingering injuries.
The kid is 22, that’s not what happens to kids, they’re either injured or they aren’t.
It’s not a feel good one day bad the next day issue at 22.

He’s said numerous times players are playing hurt.
He detailed the pain and weekly recovery process of our right tackle and Brown.
Every scout and connected basketball guru has already had a conversation with Pike and is fully aware of any physical issues Cliff may have.
There are no secrets.
Fact of the matter is Cliff ain’t hurt.
1000%. As stated he seems to only be hurt against decent big men. And hands so bad you almost wonder if he has fingers.

He acts hurt at times, probably to save face.

That said, we have nobody else to play the 5.

It’s tough watching arguably your best player get zero boards in 20 minutes when MSU outrebounded RU by 20+. The starting 4/5 on MSU combined for almost 30 rebounds. You will not be anyone with this type of rebounding disparity.

it is certainly possible that Cliff is saddled with a nagging injury, about which we will never know. But if he is too hurt to grab a single rebound in 20 minutes then Pike is to blame for playing him.

Paul created so many offensive opportunities for everyone but by far the most for Cliff. The easy lob dunks are gone. He might have 2 of those all season, whereas last year he’d have 2 per game.
Not many dunks this year at all.

You guys follow the wind. Opinions just make a lot of you look pompous and full of yourselves. Players have bad games against good players.

Too many no shows in big spots does make you wonder. He’s just not “that guy” as we all thought… until he gets CONSISTENT and STOPS FRIGGIN FOULING

Came up in the game thread. Barely even jumping for rebounds, lazy positioning resulting in fouls. I’m as frustrated with his play as everyone else given this is his 4th year in the program, but is something preventing him from the effort we’re used to?
OMG with the Cliff is hurt b-llsh-t. Several posters tried that last when he stunk and now again. No Cliff is not hurt, he is just not that good.

No..he is vastly overrated

Stop trying to find excuses
This. He's just not very good. Their 5 man kicked the crap out of him today. He had 18 rebounds to Cliff's 0. That, and I think Cliff's three points to his 17, tell you all you need to know. We play better as a team with Woolfolk at the 5.

"Arguably our best player?" - now that's funny.

Exactly, he’s completely inconsistent.
And it’s not because of injury
I wouldn’t say it’s inconsistency. He gets schooled by talented players his own size, and does well against shorter untalented players on low D1 schools.

So, he’s actually very consistent.

He’ll look like Bill Walton against Stonehill .

He misses Paul mulcahy. Needs to develop chemistry with Fernandes or Davis. He's realizing he's not as good as he thought and gets discouraged when he's getting outplayed; that leads to him playing even worse. Can't believe he had 0 rebounds, I thought this problem was solved after Seton hall. I guess not, if the opposing team has a big man that plays tough it's going to be a problem this year. Cliff is big and looks strong and athletic enough to be a good rebounder. He needs to focus on that if he wants to play professionally over seas somewhere.

This is truth simply because woolfolk isn't out there sulking. But unfortunately he doesn't rebound either and cliff is a better defender but that doesn't matter if you let them get offensive rebound after offensive rebound. REBOUND THE BALL, gonna have to address that in the portal for next year unless ogbole is Andre Drummond.

Ferandes isn’t a match up problem for other teams. PM was a big guard. But PM was a liability on D due to speed. Cliff is the focus now with lesser supporting cast. He’ll bounce back.

Guys like Harper, myles etc got to be influenced by coach young who was known as a great big man coach and learned aggressive rebounding under him. Cliff never got to learn under him and I think the difference in quality shows

He will bounce back. However, he will also have more of these no show games. He is the softest player on the team. When he starts getting dominated, he sulks and then gets beat even worse.

Agree, Cliff is not a banger. He lacks size. Need to play with his feet and help D needs to be better. He also needs to stop chasing the blocks.

He does not lack size. He lacks aggression and toughness. He's plenty big enough, has to change his mentality and box people out with force . Agree on chasing blocks though, that's part of the reason opposing teams get so many offensive rebounds..

He has length but not girth. Very skinny for 6’11” with weak base/high center of gravity. I think the aggression is coached out of him due to lack of depth.

It's not Aggression, it's effort that bothers me with Cliff. His fourth foul occurred because the MSU big man put out more effort than Cliff.
The shot goes up, MSU puts himself under the basket and back into Cliff. Cliff is lazy and pushes the dude in the back.
Eddie Jordan was crushed for saying you can't teach rebounding. Maybe what he should have said is you can't teach effort.

Positioning, leverage, using your body, reading the shot, reading your opponent….
Are all instinctual and innate.
No one taught Rashod Kent how to rebound.
