So what does that get KB? Your implications seems to be he could transfer and have a better chance to play pro ball. It was never going to happen.
No doubt, he obviously has a personal relationship with the guy.
Truth is Kelly Bryant is by all accounts a great guy and has done an admirable job at Clemson. He couldn’t help being sandwiched between the two best quarterbacks in Clemson history. He is a game manager type quarterback who is limited as a passer. There is a reason he doesn’t throw over the middle. Lawrence is like Watson in that he elevates everyone’s game. Bryant can still have a package and contribute. That should be his role. Dabo let it play out on the field. It is now very obvious who gives us the best chance to beat strong teams.

Hold up AC, YOU wanted TL started from the jump. As such, what do you think Dabo's point was with starting KB?
I believe that Dabo had a hunch back in the Spring that Trevor was the better QB, but out of fairness to Kelly and the rest of the team he needed Trevor to go prove that he was better in the games when performance matters. Kelly had a better showing at A&M and thus kept his starting job through yesterday. Trevor seems to have gotten better as the season has progressed, as we and probably Dabo expected, and now he looks like the better QB and thus should start until his and Kelly's performances dictate otherwise.

It's really that simple. Kelly was not strung along as you suggest.

@Tigerfaith It's one thing to not agree with someone, think their posts/opinions are idiotic, you wouldn't like them as a person, etc but to somehow make this assumption of accusations/implications AND then starting a whole thread based on that claim in an attempt to call him out, is pretty ****** on your part. There's no basis for that whatsoever and it's a worse look for you.

Please don’t jump on the dipshit train with @spskillz dude. Dabo named KB the starter and gave him the job. If KB was a good qb, he would’ve held onto the job, especially considering Dabo gave him more than enough opportunity to do so.

The premise that Dabo screwed over KB is beyond idiotic.
Look, if you can't have a rational conversation about this without calling anyone with a different opinion dipshit, we have nothing to talk about.

Your statement above shows you still aren't understanding what he was saying. Everyone knows that Dabo gave KB a chance to win the job. However, the point that was being made is that he did so to placate KB knowing TL would eventually win out. Considering many people on here think TL should have started from day one, that is logical.

By that premise, if TL is given the reigns from the get-go, KB at least has the option of staying or transferring. But Dabo, IMO opinion, did what he had to do for the team and make KB happy so he has a solid backup when TL eventually won the job. So yeah, he does get a raw deal out of it. I think saying he got **** on is a bit harsh, but he is kinda screwed by the situation.

And I don't recall @spskillz ever saying it was malicious, so that narrative is wrong.

Bottomline on this take is that Dabo did what was best for the team and an individual got a raw deal.

There is nothing idiotic about this line of thinking.

Your opinion isn't his opinion. His opinion is that Dabo intentionally and maliciously hurt KB. There's nothing wrong with what you said.
What I said is what @spskillz take is. As I said in my other post, I don't recall him ever saying it was malicious or an intent to hurt KB. I know he did say that Dabo **** on him, but now we are talking about semantics even though the overall premise is valid.

KB was the incumbent starter and Dabo didn’t feel like TL had done anything to unseat him. It’s as simple as that.

Of course I wanted TL to start from day one, but that has nothing to do with what we are talking about here.
This actually is part of @spskillz basic premise. You just stated that you believe Dabo didn't feel like TL had done anything to unseat him. His premise was that Dabo in fact thought TL was the better QB, but didn't start him from day one to make KB happy. Not knowing what Dabo actually thought means that neither can be proven definitively,

I think it's pretty obvious Dabo is racist. I mean, have we ever had a black quarterback under Dabo other than Bryant? I can't think of one.
You maybe right... Chad Kelly was
I'm not offended but could KB be an undisputed starter at another school right now? Yes. This year at Clemson, he's like that booty call that you never intended to date.
KB did entertain the transfer option and declined a few days later. Hunter and Kelly knew what they were up against and Kelly decided to stay and compete for the job. Dabo and staff never lied to Hunter, Cooper and Kelly through this situation. Hell Dabo has always helped his transfers end up in a place where they had an opportunity to be successful.

Why did you want TL to start from day one? What did you see and why do you say Dabo didn't see the same thing?

???? How is this not level-headed? It's one opinion versus another, and neither of them are out of the realm of possibility. That was my whole point of this exercise. While everyone on here is trying to say that @spskillz take was idiotic, I am pointing out that it is not out of the realm of possibility. Most folks seem to think there can be only one opinion that is right - theirs.

There are two basic opinions being stated here.

1) Dabo took a **** on Kelly Bryant.

2) Dabo didn't take a **** on Kelly Bryant.

If you polled the entire college football world on which opinion is closer to reality, opinion 2 would win in a landslide. Like, 99% to 1%.

His take is that Dabo **** on KB because he knew all along that he was going to give the job to TL. Fact is, no one including Dabo knew whether KB would elevate his game and hold off TL.

Dabo is the eternal optimist that believes anyone can rise up and do great things. Dabo was willing to give KB a chance to keep the job. If Dabo had just named TL a starter at the beginning of the season without giving KB a chance to win the job, that would have been shitting on KB.

Therefore his take that Dabo **** on KB as though KB never had a chance (no matter how well KB played) is idiotic.

I believe Dabo did what's best for the team, but KB does get a raw deal out of it.
NO...
KB was given every opportunity to be the QB of this team. KB has taken the first snap and first three series in every game. I dont see where Kelly has gotten a raw deal. A raw deal is telling KB you will have an opportunity to win it and start TL game one and never look back. Dabo and staff has been very fair to Kelly.

Dabo is no racist. I also pointed out that it's essentially the second time he's done this, with Stoudt but some of y'all have trouble understanding that what is best for the team isn't always best for every individual on a team.

Your response to me yesterday when I compared the situations was that CS wasn’t even in the same league as KB.

There wasn’t any sympathy from you for Stoudt.

The CFB broadcasters had criticized the 2 QB system we were using. From what I could see, they were saying KB should be the man, especially after A/M. They may not use my term to describe the situation but I bet they would now agree that the plan was to transition to TL the whole time.

Your language is the entire cause of the rift here. I don't disagree with most of what you're saying, just the suggestion that he "took a **** on Kelly Bryant." I really like KB and I feel bad for him personally, but I totally disagree with your assertion that Dabo intentionally screwed him over, and most everyone else obviously does too.

Also, I have no problem with you as an individual, and I am not mad at you. I find your take here irritating but I don't think it defines you as a person.

Just for some perspective here, I just heard Luginbill and Barrett Sallee discussing this on Sirius, and while I couldn't care less what Barrett Sallee thinks about anything, I do have a lot of respect for Luginbill. They both concurred that Dabo handled this situation masterfully, correctly, and with the proper level of respect and consideration for both players.

The fact that TL and KB were essentially co-starters to start the season is a strong statement that Dabo did not believe KB had elevated his game.

Bottom line is that Kelly was given the opportunity to keep the job that many of us thought he should not have. He may run out again first next week for all we know. Dabo in no way has **** on KB. KB will still play and contribute to this team even if he is not the starter. He was never going to transfer. What's the point of that? He ain't improving his draft stock and he has a shot at another Natty. SPs take was quite dumb.
