This is their 2nd game canceled, may not have enough games played to make Big 10 championship. Will they still get in CFP then?

I’ll admit. It would be hilarious for Michigan to cancel just so they aren’t eligible for the Big 10 championship.

Its honestly a joke that any B1G or PAC 12 team would even be considered for the CFP even with zero cancelled games. Zero fairness with teams that play 7-8 games being held in the same esteem as those who played 10. With 2 cancelled games already, it shouldn’t even be a remote consideration for them to be in. This is the bed the B1G made and now they should have to lay in it.

I agree, but you know they will put Ohio State in even if they only play five games.

Why? It’s been 6 years since they (or even the entire B1G in general) have fielded a team that was a legit national title contender. They have only made the final one time in the existence of the CFP. They certainly haven’t earned the same benefit of the doubt as an Alabama or Clemson.

If you put Ohio State in, its at the expense of Clemson, Florida, or Texas A&M (Bama and ND are in regardless, provided that they both win out in the regular season). I’ve seen absolutely nothing from them in the limited sample size of their **** schedule that says they can beat any of those teams on a neutral field. They might as well be another BYU.

What happens with ND / clempson both having a loss?

If OSU is one of the best 4 teams in the country, then I would agree with them being included in the playoffs.
Just put the 4 best teams in.

I dont give a 17 about conference affiliation and how one conference handled covid vs another. Thats some weak **** to plant your flag upon.

Get the 4 best teams and have em play. Simple as that.
Curious who should be included instead, just because enough games were played. Iowa State? Hahaha.

Clemson, Bama, ND, and...

Its not about how one conference handled COVID vs. the other....its the simple fact that teams have to build a body of work that makes them worthy. The B1G made that damn near impossible for everybody to do that from the very beginning with a delayed start and an 8-game schedule. Hell, its hard enough for them to do that in a normal year with 12 games where Michigan and Penn State aren’t both godawful.

Here’s a simple litmus test to prove how unbelievably preposterous it is to suggest OSU belongs in the CFP if they win out and win the B1G. If you think an undefeated OSU that only played 7 games belongs in the CFP, by default you also believe that Northwestern belongs in the CFP if they win out and beat OSU in the B1G championship. After all, that’s an even better resume than OSU would have, right? Considering that its a universal truth that a 7-0 Northwestern belongs nowhere near the CFP over a 10-1 Clemson, Florida, or Texas A&M, no matter who they beat...you have to treat OSU the same way. Otherwise, you are just handing out a recruiting trophy and saying the actual games don’t matter one bit.

The only way that is possible is with Clemson beating ND in the ACC title game. In that case they’d each have a win over the other and would both be in. I’d guess Clemson would be the #2 and ND the #4 unless the committee just wanted a 2-3 game between them as the tiebreaker. If the committee doesn’t let OSU in, this would be unlikely because then you would have 2 regular season rematches as the CFP semifinals. My guess would be #1 Bama, #2 Clemson, #3 A&M, #4 ND if all win out except ND losing to Clemson in ACC title game.
