While looking for news re: Ryan Newman, I saw a bit of the Iowa St vs Kansas game. ISU player driving the basket, gets bumped while in the air. Ball goes out of bounds...not touched by Kansas player. ISU retains ball. Clearly last touched by ISU.
Either a foul should have been called or the ball should have gone to Kansas....Right or wrong?

Also, on your news search, hospital security has asked media to stage outside so there may be an update soon.

If a call was missed for KU at Phog expect 30 FTs from here out to make up for that missed call. Plus the ref will be fired after the game.

Refs do this all the time. They don’t call the obvious foul which caused the player to lose control of the ball, but then give the ball to the offensive team that touched it last.

This happened to my son in a high school game. He was getting ready to go up for a driving layup and got clobbered as he just jumped and he flew out of bounds with the ball. The ref gave the ball back to us. Our coach mockingly told the ref the ball was out on us.

This is EXACTLY what happened at the end of the championship game last year. Refs will quite often not call a foul in leiu of giving possession on what would otherwise be a questionable call. Partially to help alleviate a game getting bogged down by fouls. But NOW you are forced to review those calls in the last 2 minutes, and while you can't reverse a non-call on the foul, you CAN reverse the call on possession - which is why we took 5 minutes looking at super enhanced slo-mo to determine the ball went off the Texas Tech player's fingernail when it should have been a foul to begin with.

25 total fouls called in the game (14 on ISU).
24 total fouls called in OU game (14 on KU).

This is a false narrative.

Against Ole Miss there were 36 total fouls called (20 on Ole Miss). By your argument, did the refs get fired after the game?

Lighten up, Francis. You can't take a game or two as a prime example against my joke. Everyone knows the Phog is infamous for one-sided affairs with officiating. Against TN you shot 33 to 16 FTs and TN is an inside team. Against TX 24-10. See anyone can take a few games and make it look one-sided LOL. Anyway, I was joking so don't get your KU panties in a bunch. Especially on a UK forum.

This is the problem with officiating. However many Officials are in the total rotation you have that many idiots who operate in the grey. They make the rules not enforce them consistently. There should never be a make up call. I think back to the vandy game when we had 1 fouls on us halfway through the half then bam 6 fouls in like a minute. There are rules of the game and there is the spirit of the game. Almost every possession presents some form of contact, maybe moving a pivot foot, maybe a carry, mostly though there is contact every possession. These refs have the coaches they prefer, some are racist, some don’t like people from certain regions of the country. Some may hate a fanbase. All these refs have something with some team.

I used to get this ref 4-5 times a season. His kid played club soccer for me 25 years ago. A few years latter I coached for several years the high school team the kid played for. His dad for the first couple years he killed us. Every game he went against us. I know he was racist and we had a pretty diverse school. When a game came up after that second season where he worked on the crew every game he reffed I told my team he is going to screw you. He’s out for me the school something. You go out there and you physically beat the hell out of your opponent. I mean he was going to call 3:1 fouls against us anyway so make all of it count. After a few games maybe a season we were crushing players so much when he officiated that he let half the stuff go bc he couldn’t differentiate between a hard foul and the flow of the game. Soon fouls with him were 2:1, then eventually things averaged out because we pounded everyone with him at center official.

Cal needs to make a list and when one of the worst 3 are on a crew he needs to tell guys like juzang, sestina, brooks to go out and smash the other players on every foul. Eventually they won’t know what to call and the ticky tack crap will go away. Honestly you fill out a roster in order to have the ability to send multiple guys out to make hard fouls.

Disclaimer: I would never coach my players to go dirty or intend to injure players. I encouraged them to make the opponent pay on 50-50 balls, any tackle was next level. I coach my players that when the one is needed to use their strong upper body to run players off the ball. Never go for the legs. Really it’s European style soccer cut from the mold of the Germans, Italians, Dutch. When we had an idiot ref though I shut my mouth and let the players do the talking with their strength and going extremely hard. Many times I had players whose role was to go out and win balls out of the air bc they would smash a guy.

I’m not saying to send sestina as a hatchet man but if Doug shows is out there calling ticky tack garbage send some of our bench out there to dish out some ridiculous hard fouls. Like 7-8 straight hard fouls. The refs will be so preoccupied with the opponent being punched in the mouth that when the game settles back in the ticky tack will look like child’s play. If you’re gonna get these pathetic reac, hand check or phantom garbage fouls screw that smash the crap out of them for about 5 minutes.

I'm light. You can see the same disparity in many home games. There are numerous examples of free throw disparity Kentucky receives in Rupp.

Here’s one I’ve asked all year with no explanation, catch the ball....pump fake.....step 1 foot forward while other remains on floor.....dribble......walk called every time so why?? Pivot foot remains on floor, you can spin 360 all you want as long as it is on the floor but not when you pump fake??!

We shoot the least amount of 3s per game in the SEC so we should usually lead in FT attempts while a good amount of our conference foes like to shoot 25-30+. But sure. Rupp has the reputation that the Phog does as far as officiating goes. LMFAO We barely get a home whistle. LOL

We don't shoot a high number of threes either, so your argument falls apart again. Also, another Kentucky fan posted in another thread statistics that show that Kentucky gets a better whistle than Kansas at home and on the road.

You shoot more 3s than we do. You shot 27 last night. I am not sure if we have shot that many in a game all year. Anyway, whatever, maybe it's just because I have KU and their cheating uses. 10 years straight of allegations and nothing done so maybe that keeps me from being rational about all subjects considering Jailhawks. It's a UK board and we got a big game tonight so that's all I care about. Unlike you a KU fan that was on a UK forum during your game last night. Odd.

Half time my friend. For the year, we've shot a little over 100 more threes than Kentucky. So it's not like we're a team that focuses on threes. Good luck in the game tonight. I want you in our bracket. :)

Still. When I watch a UK game I am locked in and not going to other team boards, not even the team we are playing let alone a team we don't play. I can't wait until next years Champions Classic when we give you guys another beat down like we did years back when we met in it. Self is gonna need another Vodka joke after next year's *** whipping. That is if he is even the coach at KU next year. Good luck to you guys getting blown out by Baylor again Saturday. All that cheating can't be swept under his rug forever.
Trust me I want Kblew in our bracket to. Good things happen when we met up in the Tourney under Cal at UK. :pimp:
