Officials Took Over

Bottom line there are several refs that can’t stand Cal. It’s been going on for years. We simply do not get an even whistle most of the time. Some are subtle and do their best to go less noticed some don’t care and are straight up obvious. We were fouled several times on drives tonight with no call. Reeves three off ball fouls when we went up 15 and he was on fire were pretty obvious. Bottom line it’s not going to change and it sucks. It’s costing us games at an increased pace,
They apparently could not stand Rupp, Hall, Sutton or Pitino either then. Tubby fared a little better but was hosed in some huge moments.

We have bad calls in every game but I am sure the other team has the same so that just an excuse bad coaching is the problem.

refs played a role but before you guys place the loss at their feet

just ask yourself one question

is anyone surprised UK lost this game?

that's not refs

This is the second game we lost by a point where the refs took away two from us with a ******** goaltending call. Last night, just like the A&M game, we had the ball and about to score an uncontested layup for 2 points. Both time, goaltend called that wasn’t there. Both times lose two points. Both times, lose game by 1 (well, A&M would have won the game in regulation). Same thing. Two games. Two ******* games.

There were three calls that went against us that were so bad even the refs were wondering why they were made.

There was the three by Dilly. Easy call.

Drive by Dilly. Easy call and one.

Out of bounds of LSU given to LSU.

Numerous off ball fouls on Reeves? Seriously.

Numerous other missed calls, or free throws not given to opponent for no foul.

We did enough to win easily, despite Cal.

No one convinced me otherwise.

The good news is that Cal was able to blame out team youth for the outcome.

Again.

26 games into the season.

In late-February.

We played bad but the officials really inserted themselves

Nonsense foul calls on Reeves, bad goaltend that cost us run out layup and crazy free throw disparity.....hate it
They called numerous fouls on us starting the second half, about every time down the floor. The foul on Shep was not, did not touch the guy. The foul on Dillingham was nothing. The goaltending cost us two points on a breakout. They went after Reeves hard and got him out of the game. Givens said Reeves had been fighting through screens the whole first half with no call and all the sudden they go after him on that call to get him out of the game. All you can say they was just cheating refs that took over the game during a long stretch that helped LSU get back in the game. That is what you get a lot of times in this conference. Why I mention it so much because it can easily make a difference according who the refs are. Hopefully we get them in the tournament with refs that are not rogue.

Other conferences protect their elite programs.

I'm not looking for that, but for the life of me can't understand why the SEC takes such delight in screwing over UK.

Has been that way forever.
They did a pretty good job of protecting UT on Tuesday when the fouls were 7-0 in UT's favor.

Typically, a FT disparity is the result of poor defensive play and fundementals.

We got outhustled the whole game, we also had little production from our big men. You are not going to win many road games if your big men are not threats on offense. As for the fouls it seemed like they called one on us every time down the floor for about five minutes in the second half. I still think Reeves might have fouled the first time, but the second and third fouls were pretty weak calls on our top shooter. Their guys took it to our big guys and the refs took it to Reeves, too much to overcome.

There's no doubt the refs gave this game to LSU. Still should have won though

is top of the backboard on that free throw not out of bounds?
All 4 sides of the board are in bounds. On another note, we need Mitchell back. He can shoot but he can also post up inside and get us baskets. We desperately need a center who is a threat to score in the post. Relieves perimeter pressure. And the third point is Cal must go. Asap. He is destroying our program.

Are you f***king serious?!?! Our coach’s substitution decisions led to our 15-point lead being decimated.
We looked unstoppable during the first 5 minutes of the game, offense looked great. Then Cal subbed and our offense went south. Edwards hit 3 three`s and he sat him, Reeves was unstoppable then we stopped going to him. Just odd.

Poor substituting bit Cal again. We were up big and Cal took Reed out, and LSU made a run. We really never recovered.

Cal self sabotages himself.

Wright did the same thing 3 times to Reeves. Then did it to Dillingham later in the game. If you touched him on a cut, he grabbed your arm and flailed his body to get the call. The refs fell for it every time.
I sometimes have a problem deciding if refs are stupid or crooked. It seems to be common for refs to put hi-valu players on the bench with foul trouble. They also have a bad habit of reacting to “phony fouls “ flopping, jerking etc

I honestly believe it's because of a reputation Cal must have amongst officials. It's really the only thing that could explain it.
To a certain degree, yes, I would agree with you. However, previous coaches had similar issues with officials. i do believe Cal's constant badgering only opens up more opportunities for referees to either nail us with as many fouls on the defensive side and/or swallow the whistle(s) when we have the ball in our hands.

3 fouls on Reeves on off the ball calls put him on the bench at the worst possible time right after their 15-2 run. How does he get 3 fouls on off the ball calls in about 5 minutes ? Seems impossible.

Yeah Karl Hess got Tubby in back-to-back tournament losses. Called the charge on Antwain Barbour vs. Marquette which should have been an AND 1 (and would have cut the lead to single digits if memory serves me right) and the next year it was a charge on Azubuike towards the end of the UAB game.
