Hmmm, why did I waste my time coming to game with those refs? Could be a long game with 50+ fouls most likely.

UT shoots 72% from FT line, better than us. Hey, maybe they will shock and call a decent game tonight, right?

Actually that's probably good news for us. Sure they might make a bad call or two but the unknown crew for the last game had to have made 20 bad calls. These guys are at the top of the ranks and I feel better with that than a rag tag crew trying to learn how to do the job.

Sounds like Stockholm Syndrome to me, John. Adams are Shows are objectively awful. No need to sugar coat it.

We just have to hope that our guys are shooting well enough to provide a cushion.

Well, what did you think?

Can't believe shows actually called a decent game....is it possible to say that?

it's pretty bad - we all agree it was a decently called game
but did you know they attempted twice as many free throws (24) as we did? [laughing]

They had a short period there where they cluster-called fouls on us, but for the most part, I was pleasantly surprised. That's our one freebie for the year. You can bet if we get one or both of Shows and/or Adams, it'll be a completely different game.

Heard that on the radio on the way home. Didn't realize they had shot twice as many as us and yet we outscored them in the paint by a bunch. Kind of makes you wonder why we didn't get to the line more since we were scoring inside much more than them. I know we took a lot of 3 pointers, but still.

timing of calls is part of it, I think
Most of our fouls were called in the act of shooting, so they got two shots
And, while officiating was much better - a lot of hacks were missed. I wonder, if we had shot poorly would we have gotten more calls?

Considering they went to the ft line twice as much as us and we were called for more fouls I wouldn't say the refs did us any favors. Plus this game was in Rupp so definitely no home cooking either which you kinda expect to get a little in this league. That seems to be the norm and why it is so difficult to get road wins.

We had 17 fouls, Tennessee had 15. I'm fine with that. They let them play for the most part. Adams didn't find a reason to interject himself. I was shockingly happy with the way it was called. There was even a play in the first half where Fox got an and-one at the rim where the defender's feet were clearly set. Heh. Oops.
