He’s a really good starting point guard. You’ve seen him against Kansas and UNC. He can be really damn good. Yeah he’s had some bad games especially after the injury. But we all know if he’s consistently on his game, and even just slightly improves his shooting, there’s not many pg’s in college that are better honestly.
He needs to do more then slightly improve his shooting.

So I did some checking …the one year Sahvir shot more than 50 threes his percentage dipped to 22 percent …but the 2 seasons he attempted right at 50 threes he shot 31 percent …so there’s that .

Now he was 78 percent from the FT line this year so there is hope …if you can shoot FT’s at a high percent it can definitely translate to the arc

Glad to have Wheeler back, but if he struggles I hope Cal is smart enough to make the move to Wallace. Either that or surround him with deadly shooters to offset his lack thereof.
Interesting, since we have never seen Wallace play one second of CBB.

Well you can’t ask for him to all of a sudden shoot 40% from 3. But 33-34% would work if you’re dishing out 7 assists a game. People say he turns it over a lot. But when you have 4 more assists than turnovers resulting in 8-12 more points than you are potentially giving up, I’ll take that all day. Wheeler is good. All conference good

2 games isn’t gonna cut it. To be a starting pg for a title contender you have to be steady. This guy is all or nothing. Let me add for the “wheeler” led the country in assists crowd. 2 years in a row he’s led the sec in assists. His record is 40-20. It’s obvious that assists don’t equal winning. Being a complete player equals winning which is what we need at our lead guard. We are lacking in the complete player department.

We have a Frankenstein team as someone put it. Guys who do a couple things well but not everything. We need a steady pg to bring it all together. Not an erratic guy who is easily shut down in the halfcourt. And I don’t care what his stats where for some cherry pick window of the season. We need a 1 seed and then win six in a row. You can’t pick and choose when to have a good game. You need to play well every game and wheeler is not that guy. He can contribute sure.

But can he even get his shooting that high? I doubt it considering he hasn’t shot the ball well his entire career. If it was so easy, everyone would be able to shoot.

2nd half of the season, sahvir shot 11 of 29 for 38% from 3.
If just he picks up where he left off we will be good.
Got to find a backup
You want wheeler to pick up where he left off??? Really? He had no idea what to do with St. Peter’s and wasn’t good vs UT. No if wheeler had ended the season well we wouldn’t have gone home the first weekend. He was a mess at pg. also you can’t have your lead guard taking only 29 threes in half a season. Unless there’s volume there and not just taking wide open 3s then that stat is irrelevant

You realize 33% would mean he would have made only one more three pointer this year?

But, agree with you that he is plenty good enough for what we need.

This is good news, despite what the Creanaphobes say. I swear that was the sole reason z bunch of people on here used to never give him a chance, that he played for Crean at UGA

Old dog wanting to teach old dog new tricks. Cal uses the words “that guy” and “steady”. Then uses it in the context of a big “IF”. Yeah cal out pg is the key I don’t know why you’d bet the house on a guy who you describe “you’re the difference in all this” knowing there’s a big “if”. Classic cal.

btw at what point are we condsodering wheeler got injured? Vs LSU? So wheeler was having a great season vs cupcakes and got hot for a few games I can’t read Cals comments anymore this guy and the posters here who sound like cal so out of touch with where the man was 10 years ago.

I don't really care how Cal tries to lazily sell the importance of a player coming back since we can all do the math ourselves. I mean if you really think the team would be better without a true point guard that's your prerogative but without Wheeler coming back it would get real ugly in any game where the other team decides to play defense.
