Debated ad nauseum. Cal May play zone for 1 or 2 trips then abandon it rest if game. He just doesn’t care if it’s not something the NBA plays. Besides, to play a good zone, he’d have to teach and practice one.

This may be a stupid question, so need a rules expert. Rob D shoots his free throws with a little jump shot. I thought I saw tonight ( I’ve been drinking mind you) he landed over the line. Would that be a lane violation because he entered in the lane before the ball hit the rim?
Thiero the difference in this game with high IQ plays, hustle plays, and rebounding. I honestly lost track of how many second-chance points he created.
I’m glad that Cal seems to finally be seeing the light. Mitchell at this point is a ZERO and I’m pretty sure any minutes he gets are just due to the fact that Cal brought him here and feels like he has to let him have some minutes.

Honestly, I have just never seen a UK team play this poorly on defense.
I get it, but if we cannot guard Vandy our future looks dim … that’s my only point.
Play this defense against Houston or Uconn ans see what happens. You guys whistling g past the graveyard saying "defense doesn't matter" are hilarious
16-6 end to the half and we may not need to or have any desire to play defense tonight. But on Saturday it's a must.
Sheppard has been playing sloppy the last game and a half. Hope he cleans it up a bit in the second half.
When no one on the team is capable of guarding 15 year olds from the local Boys and Girls Club, it has got to be bad coaching. This team's defense is absolutely disgraceful.
I like how vandy has 2 guards who want to get to the rim and the paint and Kentucky lets them do that
I cannot recall us ever having a poorer defensive club. We are pretty sorry.
Went from a game in the 60's to a game in the 90's with that last minute and a half. Thank God we have a reliable 3 point shooting team. Going to have to win with no defense the rest of the way. It will be tough to make it 10 or 11 more straight games with hot shooting. Gotta hope any game we're cold that the opponent is as well.
Edwards is worlds better playing the 4 vs. Playing the 3 spot. Thiero and Edwards should get every minute at the 4. Mitchell needs to sit.
I thought for sure Thiero was just going to chuck up a terrible shot to end the half but we got lucky there he got into a mangled mess and kicked it back out to Reeves.
Any decent coach could shut this down with one adjustment on defense.
Cal is very adept at teaching zone defense. Unfortunately, the only one he really knows is the 1-1-1-1-1 zone.

2. I agree completely. Though I will say they are capable...but doesn't seem willing. Far too many lazy *** plays. I saw Rob do that damn street ball back tap again. So frustrating. As Cal said, and I honestly do agree here...if you are fast enough to go by someone you are fast enough to stay in front of them.
Be really nice if they just storm out the gate in the 2nd half and put this to bed fast.

Vandy is just driving straight to the basket from the top of the key. This team has to be one of the worst in history, defensively.
They are ball watchers man, one pass and everyone of them is looking away from the guy wide open getting said pass.
Reed and Dilly both struggled as soon as they came in but Thiero kept it close.
Then Reeves, Reed and Dilly finally started making shots at the end.
Actually DJ helped to keep it close as well.
Cannot disagree. Mitchell looks a step slow and almost seems disinterested.
A lot of mid major teams run really good offense.
We can’t slow down a bad offense like Vandy.
Our luck they would probably shoot 45% and win though. He won't do that anyway. Had said as much.
I hope those last couple assists and that open 3 get him going. He was sleepy doing dumb Reed stuff early on and not guarding at all.
I hate UT, but they play amazing team defense. It’s mostly about communication and preparation - we are bad at both it seems. One of the most enjoyable UK teams to watch was the 02-03 team. They played incredible team defense. This team doesn’t need to have that level of defense to go on a run but they are so far away from being on that level.
I’ve noticed that before also. ( about Rob’s foot landing over the foul line before shot hits the goal)!
