One of the keys to beating us is to run back the other way on an opponent miss, because of instead of coming down and running a play we'll just plow into a set defender or traffic. They're doing that. And Reed makes that bad pass leading to a 3 on the other end.

At this point defense is a matter of effort and some bare bones basketball IQ.

We've had much less talented players, understand how to play defense.

Maybe what Cal needs to do is start sitting the guys who aren't doing the basics.

What I've been saying for 2 months. If we give effort on D we are an average defensive team and that's good enough with our offense. When we don't we are terrible like 150's type defensive team most all of it is effort. Defense and rebounding are 80% effort.
