Why does Smith run directly behind the RB after the handoff? I don’t remember seeing anyone else do that.

He's faking the option on the Navy DE. Trying to not let the DE just key on the handoff and go after the RB without hesitation. Not like it's fooling anyone. Smith is slower than Peyton Manning.

I understand the inclination to be conservative. If you don't turn it over here and force Navy to call timeouts they really can't comeback. But man I just wish monty had a little bit of killer instinct in him. We could have hit them deep while they were keying hard on run on first and second down
