We only need to beat Wichita State and SMU one time.

In March

Fair enough. I am the Homer of homers on here. I don’t see any way that happens without something bat$hit crazy happening, like Joiner becoming Carl English or Henderson attacking on defense. I will go to games, but my enthusiasm is pretty low. The injury and defection hurt but the lack of strategy hurts more.

Lowered expectations and dying fan base.

Every time Haith’s teams give a glimmer of hope and I start to get excited we do something like get blown out by Illinois State or lose a home opener to Lamar. I just don’t get my hopes up anymore. And I’m not exactly the biggest Haith hater on here

Screw u, was incredibly bad calls during that whole segment. Just listen to the tv and radio broadcasts. Go back to your board. Incredibly low class to come here after a win for your team and make an a$$ of yourself.
I just thought it was the right call. No need to get personal.

I like Haith. I like our team. But Haith has to be responsible for the product on the floor at the end of the day. We make a lot of really dumb mistakes that shouldn’t be happening at this point in the season.

I’m not a hater on Haith by any stretch. I was one of the few that applauded his hiring as a bold move by our AD. Boldness... something we haven’t been known for in most hires. But, like I said, I am incredibly disappointed in the product on the court. As a former “national coach of the year” with $1.3MM annually in salary, I don’t think it is unfair to expect better. Better recruiting. Better execution. Better game planning. Better bench strategy.

True.
One slightly better than the other one is all. Everyone calm down.

Isn't it time you took your hindparts out of here to have intimate relations with your cousin and/or the sheep on the side of road in Stillwater?

Yes, pretty even, I'm afraid the Sooners have the advantage over everyone in the state this year, I do hope we keep this series, because when both of us are good, it makes a pretty good turnout

Lowered expectations and dying fan base.

I went to the Manhattan game on Saturday using the free tickets from the football survey.

I'm no youngster, but I felt like just about the youngest fan in the section I was in. I shudder to think what will happen when the older fans are gone with no one to replace them.

We’ll find out in the next 5-10 years.

No need to wait to see what happens, just look at the end of the last few seasons, then subtract the gray hair from the stands, then cringe.

Tulsa athletics (and donors) hit the panic button when Manning left. We were just starting to get some traction back and they really wanted to try and keep the momentum. They went big, and it isn't paying off yet.

Here's the deal- the kids Haith is recruiting for the 2018 signing period were 3 or 4 the last time TU won a tournament game. They have no memory of Tulsa as a basketball school - they know Gonzaga, VCU, Northern Iowa, Wichita State, etc. Heck, the list can expand to include Valpo, St. Mary's, Dayton, St. Josephs, Bradley... if you asked a high school senior who is in to basketball to name 5 mid major programs, few would list Tulsa anymore.

In a sport where 1 or 2 solid recruits can change the game, not having the perception to help sell the program hurts. Without those 1 or 2 recruits, its harder to win. When you don't win, it's hard to put butts in the seats and even harder to recruit. Viscous circle, and it went weird for Tulsa just as we should have been hitting our stride after a long run of great coaches and lots of wins with a new on-campus facility. So we tried to go big with the hire. But at this point, we are trying to rebuild the brand that has fallen off in the last 15 years or so.

Damn my recent pessimism on TU sports...

TU needs a very good head coach (at least) to win at a high level. Since Self here are our head coaches:

Buzz
JP
Dougie
Manning
Haith

Pretty sad when JP has won more NCAA tourney games than the other four combined.

Maybe that’s because Tulsa isn’t a “mid-major”. TU is in a major basketball conference which gets multiple bids each year. Now whether kids know TU plays quality ball or not is another discussion but this mid-major stuff needs to go away.

What bothers me is that OSU's rookie coach made better in-game and halftime adjustments than Haith.

Putting "P6" on the conference logo doesn't make it so.

Perception is everything...

OSU’s rookie coach commented at halftime “ I expected Tulsa to play hard as they try to prove that they can play at this level”

“Play at this level”...

I guess someone didn’t tell him we were in a major conference.

I don’t blame you for it bothering you but I will say from our game and the FSU game they won I think they got a stud in Boynton.

Obviously a rookie still shouldn’t out coach Haith. But he’s not a typical rookie coach, IMO.
