A technical question: If you ignored someone sonewhere else, do you have to reignite them here?
No, but you do need to reignore them.

Reigniting them is a bit of an overreaction.

I can’t tell you how excited I am to have people like you put me on ignore. To actually be able to have a conversation with another poster and not be harassed every time I post something sounds amazing. O mean look at all the lame toddler posts already. I tried to get McLovin to put me on ignore for years.
This is YOU, you little fvcktard. Hopefully, this is the only thread that ever gets you any acknowledgement.

Tom from HROT:

Ok, a few thoughts and some background.

This stuff has been going on for months. Nearly pulled the plug back in early to mid March when a couple of posters were creating new handle after new handle all day every day. Babysitting adults is part of the job, but my real job here is to produce content and not micromanage an off-topic forum that does very little for the bottom line here. Our revenue is generally largely coming from subscribers.

One thing that I want to be clear about is that we didn't go this to make a revenue grab. Absolutely not true. We had two options at this point. One was to take the entire OT forum down. The other was to leave it up and restrict it to subs. There are a lot of subs that like to talk about the OT stuff, which is great. We have a rule in the Lounge...no politics. So this gives folks an outlet. That was it. Nothing more.

One thing that On3 won't do is ban IP addresses. They can be shared and it knocks out other people. Plus every good troll has a VPN anyway. So our options are limited in terms of banning folks and that is very frustrating. Back in March we tried something and that seemed to slow things down. But the troublemakers have found another workaround and they returned to cause more problems here. That gets us to yesterday.

A bit more background. I rarely share anything about my private life, particularly here. All that comes from that it people use it against you, which is too bad. But, the last year plus, I have been helping my nearly 80 year old mom get to her cancer treatments. Last year trying to cover a basketball coaching search and taking her to daily radiation treatments and weekly chemo was a challenge, but we did it and she is hopefully now fully cancer free (pending final scans from this week). Monday I spent a good part of the day getting my heart shocked back into rhythm, which is scary for someone who saw his dad nearly die from a heart attack at 40 and then die from one at 53. Then yesterday my wife found out she has a medical issue and I see some low life coward attacking her.

And let me be clear. When she ran for office it was discussed on the OT board when we were still over at Rivals. I was very transparent about it when it came up and I think most people, even those who did not agree with her politically, were supportive and respectful. I wish she didn't run at the time, but it was her decision and supported her, as a spouse should. She ran a solid campaign. Lost and she will never run for office again.

This brings us to a path forward. The issue as I see if we want to go back to "normal" is dealing with a couple of trolls. What happens is instead of reporting the troll or sending me a DM with a link, people just jump in and start mocking the troll, which is like throwing gas on the fire. if folks would simply ignore and not respond to the trolls and send me a link to the post or report it, I will swoop in and remove them and we move on. Yeah they will continue to create handles, but we just knock them out and move forward. But, my sense is folks can't or won't handle it the way I am suggesting. Trolls love attention. To get back to normal, if folks are interested in doing that, they need to not be given what they want.

Always open to suggestions. But, those are my thoughts.

Gibbs will somehow make this about him and act like a victim.

That's quite the post though. Ignoring is the way.
