Take it a little easy on Briscoe. 5 of 12 shooting, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal. Plus some excellent Defense on Bridges. Proud of him.
Like every year, because of our youth, our defensive rotations are bad, especially on the interior. Our perimeter D has been pretty good.
Correct. The layup that Bridges completely smashed was a dumb decision by Briscoe.
When he is in he doesn't hardly touch the ball. He either needs to work harder getting open or others have to do a better job of finding him. I swear I remember him touching the ball about 3 times and one was an outlet pass after the block.
Where is Fox? Was not on the floor for the last several minutes. Hope he is not hurt.

I tell you what, despite the fact we didn't step on their throats - we are seeing what this team is capable of and damn if I'm not a little bit giddy about it!
Can't feed Bam because they are doubling and hedging towards the middle b fore he even posts up. That was MSU's plan along with going under screens and clogging the middle, they are content with giving UK open jumpers which is why hey keep taking jumpers since the lane is closed. I suspect they stick closer to Monk in the second half and continue to allow everyone else to shoot jumpers
Briscoe didn't play that bad.
He was overly aggressive to drawing foul. Unlike Duke's player, he's attacking to draw foul. THat's what coach cal was saying. He seems to go towards the players sometimes. It just shows you, he is really confident about his FT this year.

I thought we had a damn fine half for the third game with a bunch of freshmen. Good nose for defense. We missed assignments but seemed to recognize it and did a good job recovering. Half court offense, well, needs work. Don't see a lot I'd change at this point.

Fox, Hawkins and Briscoe don't need to be so eager to take early-long open jumpers they aren't hitting, drive and kick to Monk, Willis or get a shot in the lane or to the foul line.

Briscoe and Monk may be this year's Ulis and Murray. Need more interior production.
I'm still worried about the trend with Bam getting these weak calls in the paint. They said they was going to clean up post play this year but it looks a bit excessive. It's literally a different rule modification every year that they punctuate, then abandon by conference play lol. Hopefully he'll adjust in the 2nd half, 2of3 games those calls have taken away valuable minutes.
The guards also seem very hesitant to drive once the ball is reversed to the weak side. Monk has had a few times with one big man to get by on the weak side wing and hasn't gone. It's there.

There's much to learn from this team. Good point on feeding Bam - that can open up a lot of lanes and outside shots.
This team is going to incredible come March. I mean, freakin' awesome. So much there - just have to learn and grow. It's just the 3rd game.

The only thing I notice about both Hump and Gabriel is they are trying so hard to play good D they are giving up rebounds. It will come though once they get more comfortable in the scheme.
Defense isn't that bad 26 points. We are doing well 20-25 seconds, but lose it at the last second. We just need to finish it to 30 seconds.
Yes . I feel this will be Cal's best team in by Mid Febuary.
