Because Monk is shooting so well he deserves to play.
I wish Monk would do same. Monk has too explosive a 1st step not to
WE have a team full of Freshmen and Sophomores and a bunch of fair weather fans that shoot their wad in the first half
I meant variety of shots, not 3's specifically. I know our fanbase is obsessed with 3 point shooting but yeah.
Defense picked up a bit the last 5 minutes.

Willis D has been fine. The way Cal plays u will have Willis guarding backcourt players. Thats where he has struggled.
You guys sure bitched about Briscoe's free throws. Why aren't we obsessed over them now that they're going in?
Scored 44 points despite looking disinterested most of the half...now the D needs to pick up in the 2nd half.
Good end to the half. Would be up 20 if they could hit a jumper.

Shame Brad wasn't on the floor instead of Monk. That lob would have been a 3. Cal has to get this rotation fixed.
But really I am happy to see Bam starting to hit the boards...needs to finish better but that will come

Some of these whining fans have thirty, forty, sixty years of experience in being a *****. They're already in mid-season form.

I agree Half way..I think outside shooting is kind of an issue but I agree we've been giving up too much on D.

Well we suck at defense , we don't even have a clue yet what kind of offensive system we'll run yet and we need dozens of hours practicing rebounding and hundreds of hours shooting practice ....... would of been nice to of gotten a head start on it over the summer like every other damn team
UNC had a tight 1st half earlier tonight, then pulled away in the 2nd. We'll be fine; we HAVE to allow these young guys time to play together as a team.
Fox, Monk and Bam combined 4-19, and the makes came late. 0-6 from 3.

Luckily Canisius only 3-14 from 3. Foul trouble will be their undoing by the 10 minute mark.

Kentucky has a 68% defensive rebounding percentage tonigh (defensive rebounds / defensive rebounds + opponent offensive rebounds). Not great, but that's certainly not a bad percentage. That's the same percentage as the 2015 team.
I feel awful. The refs have been raping canisius just to keep us in the game.... I hate it when it happens to us and I'll be fair and hate it when it's in our favor
So some of the scouting reports about the players and team are showing (the ones many didn't want to see and thought people were just making them up)
Draftexpress said Wenyen has issues with side to side defense, monk streaky jumper and how he struggles to get to the rim due to lack of first step which is why he shoots a lot of pull up jumpers, Bam with no soft touch and SKJ rebounding and defense.
This is all good that it's showing now so Cal can show these guys game tape after the game so they can see what they need to work harder at.
UK has picked up the rebounding this game a little bit but many are due to the missed layups they miss Get and gen miss again. That can be fixed so not a huge deal but not a small deal as well.
Biggest issue is shooting, something that many articles said would be UK biggest weakness, I mean in both games we are talking wide up shots that won't be so wide up when they play tournament teams (good teams). Coaches will realize they can slow the game up and play off everyone not named Fox/Briscoe (named them because they can get past you even when you lay off) and dare everyone else to shoot. Since shooting isn't fixed easily UK is going to need to set perfect screens and back door cuts as well as get post scoring from Bam and Hump.
Bam is going to neeed to get as close to the rim as possible and try to get fouled since he has the touch of Roberto Duran. I'm sure Cal is telling them at Halftime (something some should hear) that if you thought every team would be Clarion or weak like the other teams they have played then you are sadly mistaken.
I think you see a much different team in the second half and I wouldn't be surprised if Willis and Gabriel sit more this half due to their weak defense
