If they are forced to double on Towns, we need some shooters to hit. Andrew, Devin, Aaron, Tyler, Trey...we need to hit some shots, otherwise it's going to be a nail-biter.

Like wiseBko, I'm getting roasted for it, but hey I'll be glad to be wrong.

Why only 25 shots? This has always been my one complaint with Cal- why are there so many games where he's satisfied to just try and grind? I mean it's nice that you can win that way, but in a game like this, I think it makes it harder than it needs to be. If you're not hitting, I'd still rather see not hitting on 30-35 attempts rather than 25.

This has cost Cal-coached teams in the past. UCLA 2007, the first half of West Virginia 2010, UConn in 2011 and 2014. All slow, halfcourt grinders, where Cal's team couldn't hit enough shots to win.

This first half did nothing but give Notre Dame confidence. Need to take some of that away from them in the 1st 5 minutes of the 2nd half, or it's going down to the wire.

Two of those turnovers were not on Lyles. He did was he should have. He got the block and the ball and needed to give it to his guards. He attempted to and the guard was not doing his job. On the other one, he had the great idea for a little give and go to WCS, but instead WCS was going to the basket with no purpose. He was not looking to score and was just moving to move. Lyles tried to make things happen and the older players were not on the same page, the one they should have been on.
There was no need to be in such a hurry though. Andrew was still under the basket, so he had a guard (the point guard no less) to get it to. No need to throw it into Aaron's back. Yes, aaron could have waited, but Lyes has eyeballs!

Trey has done some veryone of things, but he's thrown the ball away 3 times. May just be nerves. Hopefully they will settle in second half.

Especially against a team who is super efficient offensively. Against WVU or UC, who struggle to shoot, ND isn't the kind of team to pinch possessions against.

Plus I've seen ND play plenty this year, and this is far from the best they can play. This is a B game from them, probably since they are playing UK. If they play better and we don't, we will have a tough time winning. Lets hope those shots fall now.
Unfortunately you are right. They have not been making threes.
Incumbent on us to continue to play strong perimeter D and take control inside through post-up and rim driving.

Doesn't help when when they turn the ball over right after a defensive rebound. They did that like 3 times!!

Nervous here too. If our guys will come out and take over, from the start of the second half, they can put this game away. The sooner they establish themselves, the quicker they will rattle ND and get this game under control. The longer it takes them to do that, the more confident ND will become and that will make it much more difficult for UK to win this game.
Hope our team comes out with that "fire" in the second half and destroys Notre Dame.

GO BIG BLUE!!!

Right now our willingness to grind it out is putting a lot of pressure on our D. If ND gets hot in the 2nd half we might have trouble coming back. Gotta get some perimeter jumpers to fall ourselves.

Yep doesnt matter that ND played lights out and we played C- bball it is 0 - 0 at half . Like i said not worried in the least . we have this time and time again with UGA , UL , LSU ect . You better get a huge lead on us or it is over.
How have they played lights out...
1-5 from the 3 says otherwise??

We're good Notre dame is playing good and were playing poorly, 2nd half first five minutes we take a 6 to 8 point lead, time out Notre dame, it stays around that score till the last 7-8 minutes then Notre dame wears down, we win by 15

Come back, make some adjustments in the second half. Maybe get some up tempo going, but we definitely need to play better defense and start hitting our shots.

Gotta' stay positive !

I wish I could say otherwise but I don't think we will be up 6 after five minutes. I expect it will be close or we will be down 2-3. I'm not happy about that but it's what I except. I don't think we pull out to a lead and keep it until less than 8 minutes to play.

Well we decided to focus on that, so it is understanding.
This game is now in the second half our offense against their defense.

One of the problems with being an older fan is you remember stuff

I had the same "lid on the rim" thought during the first half when NOTHING would drop

SMH

I hope we don't get the same result tonight

Notre Dame just 1/5 from 3 in the first half, we should be killing them. Assuming they start hitting 3s, we will need play MUCH better in the 2nd
