Can't say I care for curling but Stefania Constantini is growing on me, in a girl next door sort of way.

I've tried to to watch some of the Olympics, but way to many commercials....so I'll just read about the results. Life is too short.
Watching on USA Network isn’t bad. I never watch on NBC, too many commercials, as you said.

Not one post here about Breezy Johnson winning Gold in the downhill. It's sad that Lindsey Vonn crashed but come on.....Yes!! BREEZY JOHNSON!!!!
Great run. That’s 2 titles (world and Olympic) in a row for Johnson. She has no other World Cup wins, but comes up huge in the biggest events. Hopefully it’s her and Shiffrin in the Team Combined.

I would have rather Vonn’s Olympics end with her down the ranks rather than a crash, but at least the manufactured drama is over. She should have never been out there after getting injured - this was almost inevitable.

If you don’t follow ski racing, you wouldn’t know that there’s always some sort of drama with her - it’s always about her. Amazing talent, but a total camera hog.

NBC's coverage is horrible. First, I had read they were promising 4K, then they kinda backed off that and said 4K would only apply to prime-time coverage. Tried watching Olympics on Peacock yesterday. After a few runs in luge, a commercial - OK, I can handle that - but the commercials Peacock inserts overrun the coverage, so I missed a luge run or two during the two minutes of commercials. And this was on a recorded event. I really wasn't that interested in the Olympics to begin with, really wanted to get a taste of the 4K, but that bombed, and then the commercials - ugh.

My first Olympics where I really could pay attention was 76 Innsbruck. The coverage is night and day different. We’ve got the benefit of drones, better cameras, digital video, etc, but we waste it on soap opera crap and commercials

Congrats to Breezy but Vonn is the story. I'm sure Breezy couldn't care less that she's not the focus. She's forever a gold medalist.

It's the whole "trauma everyone suffers" that I can't deal with. Discussing injuries is great but there's too many "sob stories" but that draws in the non sports fan. Diehards are going to watch regardless

Have you no compassion for the athlete who had a goldfish from the carnival die when they were four?

Vonn is undoubtedly one of the greatest female athletes in history. To come back at age 41 after all her injuries and being retired for SIX years and then to win 2 downhill events, is jiust an incredible story. That she crashed and ruptured her ACL a week before the olympics was heartbreaking, but then to see her coming out of the gate with said injury knowing this was a real possibility takes courage that I can't even fathom. She deserves all the attention and more, and I highly doubt Breezy will spend a second worrying about it.

I grew up ski racing for almost a decade of my life. It's amazing to think about how Vonn is still racing and we are about the same age—an era when the "shape ski" came online and revolutionized the sport forever. Heartbreaking to hear her cries of pain after her fall today.

I still enjoy the Olympics and watching events that I don’t think about again for 4 years. Especially XC skiing (those guys are aerobic machines) and whatever it’s called where they ski and target shoot. The hockey has been spectacular, both men and women. Perfect timing so something keeps me interested until the first Spring Training game and the sound of bat meeting ball.

Olympics suck. The coverage sux. Summer is 100 different t swimming events and gymnastics. Winter is all figure skating.

The athletes are dbags.

Or their grandfather died - and it turns out he was 91. Like, that’s a helluva run, not a tragedy

Despite my bitching so do I. You’re thinking Biathlon. Yeah, all about calming your heart rate down during the shooting part. I prefer the Winter games due to having more sports you never get to see during the year. I just wish they did more work to explain how insane some of the events are. Show the real steepness and iciness of the Downhill course, for example.

I skied down the Beaver Creek downhill course just before a World Cup race. Not fun at all. Pure ice.

Luge men’s singles, USA at the moment.
Japan and USA tied for first in team figure skating, men’s singles skate coming up for all the marbles. On USA, I’m certain. (Remote is over there, don’t wanna get up.)
