What we are doing doesnt pass the eye test, statistics be damned.

Our offense is slow and plodding. We dont get any kind of an offensive rhythm going. Our plays take too long to develop.....SEC DLs get off their blocks faster in this league. Our receivers drop too many passes. Fitz calls his own number too often on the option plays. I bet our total number of offensive plays per game is down dramatically from last year.

It's a **** show, and it has been all season. We lost five games this year, and at least three (and maybe four) were against inferior opponents. That can't happen....ever. The best defense perhaps in bulldog history was wasted on an 8-5 team and it's a damn shame.

Cohen should have walked out on the field and fired moorhead in the middle of the game after the three qb runs from inside the 3 ended up netting us 3 points. That would at least have given me something to cheer about after driving 12 hours and sitting in the blazing sun to watch that abortion.

Hallelujah, holy ****! Wheres the tylenol?

We were paying Mullen over $4.5 million. He had two competitive games against Bama - blew them both; Could barely beat Arkansas and got destroyed by them once; and lost 3 of his last 4 to Ole Miss; because - and let me cap this like Trump - MULLEN WANTED OUT OF STARKVILLE. He was job hunting from 2012 on. Clocked out by the first week in November.

The question is why? I don't think it was money. He either wasn't a fit or he felt like he wasn't wanted. Coaches have an ego. You either stroke their egos or they'll find folks who will. Face it, few of us were all that excited about Dan. He was a damn yankee, stubborn, wouldn't work hard enough to suit us at recruiting and who didn't play well with the cigar boys/MSU Mafia/whatever you wanna call 'em.

He's gone now and I doubt we're getting a better coach any time soon. Let's hope Croomhead turns into MoorMullen or MoorSherrill before he gets shown the door or finds the way out of town.[/QUOTE]

So Mullen coached up one WR enough to make the NFL in 9 years? That's exactly the kind of improvement I hope we get from jomo**

It's a travesty in this day & age of college football that we haven't put a WR in the NFL in who knows how long. Thomas is a TE... I don't care how Mullen used him.

Regardless of how many receivers we have starting in the nfl. We have over 20 guys on nfl rosters as of this year. That number is unprecedented for the players he put into the league. He may have not had nfl receivers but he has had several running backs and lineman make it in the league. He ran the spread option run not a pass happy offense and was successful with it. He developed one of the best qbs to ever play for the maroon and white. You know the one starting for the cowboys right now. We had offensive production like we have never seen and development like we have never seen on offense, but yeah ***** about the damn receivers. Got news for ya. From what I’ve seen of Moorhead so far, he won’t have a receiver, running back, or qb playing in the nfl from his stint at MSU. We have some talent there but looks like he doesn’t know how to use it or develop it.

Not to side one way or the other on Moorhead as I haven’t made up my mind while pissed off still, but let’s not act like 20 players in the NFL is some great testament to Mullen’s coaching. Of those 20 only 18 were on active 53 man rosters. Of those 18, 11 are defensive players. Additionally 2 of them are special teams only. So he has 5 offensive players in the NFL.

I’m pretty sure that is Dak, Jordan Thomas, Martinas Rankin, Blaine Clausell, And Gabe Jackson.

We'll have 6-7 drafted this year with 3-4 in the first 2 rounds

And it will be a good thing for MSU.

It's not the top line talent that we missed this year, it's the holes in our roster.

Please go back to making a Braves thread every 3.5 minutes.

You seem mad. I state a fact and you cry like a beech. Sorry facts bother you

You are making both boards unreadable with your dribble. Go somewhere and find a new team. Jesus, I havent logged in for 2 years or more and your constant bitching/whining "3 wins tops!" crap has gotten so old in less that 48 hours that I had to dust off the login. You state facts, others do too. You dont agree, they dont agree with you... but stop ruining every damn thread on two different boards. ****.

Post a link where I said 3 wins tops. You can't... I've never said that, so stop misquoting me

ETA... if the mods wanna ban me, fine. Until then though, I'll post what I want.

It is not a mystery why Dan left, and your false dichotomy leaves out the obvious: He wants a shot at winning a championship and he didn't think he could do that at State.

Oh, he also wanted more money, even though you don't think that was the reason.

Don't blame State fans, boosters, and/or administration for Mullen leaving. You're right that he has an ego, and he wants to be one of the top coaches in college football. To do that, he wants to be at a bigger school, with more money, and a better football pedigree. Don't try to claim we somehow drove him away.

Mullen is a solid coach, but he doesn't recruit particularly well, and his offense is limiting. He will do well at Florida, but he won't win any championships.

It was an exaggeration of your repeated whining. Obviously it wasnt a direct quote. Case in point on you're jumping to 'sky is falling' end of the spectrum though.

Army hung 1,000 points on Houston. Just sayin'. I was at the game and you guys that are defending Fitz are not seeing what I saw. Want to say it was in the 4th quarter and Fitz had Mitchell I believe wide open and all he had to do was float the ball down there. Nope-frozen rope and sailed over his head. Had he just closed his eyes and chunked a floater it's a TD. I saw another one sail 5 feet over Mitchell's head as well. And we're sitting in the stands screaming to run a quick pitch right down at the goal line and nope, didn't happen. I don't really understand if Fitz has to determine what to do in this offense, but if that is the case, it seems to me that he's got a big case of the Kelly Lee's (sports analogy for you young kids out there!). Iowa's defense was just keying on him. They couldn't stop us when we ran the option. We scored our 2nd TD I believe running a quick pitch right. It was there all day.

Oh yeah, there are many and numerous areas where we regressed. I just went to see if there was anything that technically improved. This is NSFW but here’s some things that got worse.

Red zone attempts per game from 15th in the country to 84th.

In losses we were held to 280 ypg (Croomian)

Kick returning was a joke with three returns of 30+ yards on the season. 89th nationally.

Averaged 319 ypg in conference this year vs. 385 last year.

We were 5th in the country in time of possession in conference games in 2017 and 41st in 2018.

In losses we averaged 12 .4 first downs a game. Good for last in all of humanity for 2018.

I got tired, but there is so much more.

that is interesting. where are you pulling all of your stat's from. based on the eye test the only player that seemed to have good progress this year was Mitchell. he was barely used last year only a few catches in his redshirt freshmen year. All of the other guys at receiver seemed to disappear this year.

I saw your stats from this year that did improve, and you've posted some now that were really bad regressions. The eye test was not very good, and we seem to pad our stats against very bad teams. Against SEC we were worse minus ole miss and arkansas. The pre-snap seemed to be one of the worst parts of the offense this year.

2 TD's dropped from WR's breadbaskets in the endzone and this is a 2 letter grade swing in how we evaluate JoMo. Not defending, just being objective.

Two guys with over 25 more combined years of experience coaching offense at the D1 level were better at coaching their players this year? Color me 17ing shocked.
hmm, i thought we were supposed to be getting the guy to take us to the next level! yeah ok! not a greenhorn experiment that can't adapt to his players. I thought we were getting a savant that could take what his was given and make it great. that's what savants do. that's what offensive geniuses should do.
