This is no longer a dated scheme. It’s the same scheme multiple NFL teams run. We don’t use a FB anymore and we run almost exclusively out of the gun. It’s not scheme, it’s an aversion to risk by the HC, plain and simple.The offensive skill groups are hot garbage. QBs = overpriced ***, RBs = average at best, TEs = hands of stone, WRs = the worst group in P4. You simply cannot attract top talent at QB or WR with such a dated scheme and a gelding as your head coach.
Actually, and I say this only IMHO, but I think it's both. Too complicated, obviously, for college, which may be why NOBODY else in college football runs it. Maybe. Possibly.
