Wow would be an incredible get for Nebraska. Is he a 4-3 DE or a 4-2 or a 3-4? If so how would he fit in Nebraska's scheme, would he have to switch to OLB, a position he hasn't played before? Btw, what is Nebraska's defensive identity now?
Whether or not all had a hand on the turf, 4 man fronts predominated. Combo of Nelson, Payne, Tannor at the ends, Reimer, Heinrich and Jojo lined up behind. He would be a DE in a four man front. Nelson, Payne and the Mathis kid have the size to pay DE in a 4-3. Tannor is a touch small.

total guess on my part but he looks like an outside linebacker who would wreck havoc on opposing quarterbacks.
Get that kid on he roster and he, Nelson, Tannor and Gunnerson can be DEs in a four man front.
I think that Vince Guita they brought in to be recruiting coordinator is going to do some great work in getting talent here. He did a helluva job for Callahan, and he cut his teeth bringing in guys for Urban Meyer. So whatever he does, he's been damn good.
Get lucky with that Mathis kid, maybe add another quality portal player for the DL and things could improve what is otherwise the perceived weak spot on defense. Even someone to come in and be a quality backup for Robinson and Nash would be welcome.
I used to have a real problem with teams suddenly hauling in top talent, and how they might have been doing it, but hell, with the NIL it's legit now, so I guess whatever legal enticements you use to get great players is the new nature of the game.
Seems like we have a chance. He is coming to the spring game, and he's bringing family along, so it looks like he's serious about NU. Pessimistically, I still think he ends up at Texas since it's closer to home and his old coach is there. Maybe we'll impress him enough that he'll decide he doesn't want to play for one of TCU's big rivals.
From that clip in post #20, he sort of reminds me of Randy Gregory.. looks like he plays with his hair on fire.
I agree, I think we have a real shot. I hope CT spends as much time as possible with him on his visit telling him nothing but horror stories about life as a longhorn.
Hopefully the 55000 strong at the Spring game will show him lots of love!! As well as the big boys coming from Missouri! We need those two O-lineman as well as that D-End. It would be icing on cake if our LSU connections can convince the LB transfer to make his way here as well!
Yep, White and Mathis are difference makers. Getting both would be amazing. Probably asking for too much though.
One of the two would be nice. Two of two would be @ 20% improvement potential. I still have a lot of confidence in Vince doing his magic before the fall practices begin.
We all know what plugging in a LaVonte David/Randy Gregory type would do for this overall defense. We have a lot of really good players on defense, as Sledge said, we just need a couple of difference makers. Especially if one new addition could be a run stopper.
