Prayers for the people in NYC, the situation is getting worse by the hour.

Saying they could be 3 weeks from peaking. To quote Churchhill, “This isn’t the end, it’s not even the beginning of the end, but it is perhaps the end of the beginning.”

Good grief. No wonder Trump's considering a quarantine for NYC.

Many people in NYC (and other large cities) literally live on top of each other. It's impossible for them to leave their apartments without contacting someone, or going into a common area.

Just got a news bulletin saying Trump has instituted the quarantine. Then when I click and read the story, it says he's not going to do it. Not sure which is true.

I think of how many people, other than my family, I come within a 3 foot distance every morning between waking up and getting to my desk (prior to work from home). I think on an average day it's about 1 person, and that's if someone else is walking down the stairs while I'm walking up.

New York City, an average person probably gets within 3 feet of around a thousand or more people every single day (in the apartment building, on the streets, on the subway, in the office building). And the thousand people one day is probably 80% different from the thousand people the next day. Community spread was rampant prior to the lockdown.

I wonder how they determine that? Most all other countries have peaked in approximately 4 weeks after hitting 100 cases. New York just hit 22 days (going in to week 4) since reporting 100 cases. I wonder what makes them think it will go that much longer than most other places. It appears Italy has peaked and they were about at 4 weeks.

I’m sure it’s some algorithm that factors in the daily increase of the rate of infection, density of population, etc..

LA is probably a week -10 days away from being where NYC is now. With their lack of a solid healthcare system this could decimate Mexico City when it gets there. Never been so proud to call these Mississippi hills home.

Whether he does or not, where the hell is the NYC mayor or the governor in all this? If they do their damn job, the President doesn't have to. Same goes for the New Orleans mayor.

NOLA mayor too busy blaming Trump for not telling her to cancel Mardi Gras.

NYC is basically a breeding ground for this stuff. Public, transportation, living close together, too many people, restaurants are close quarters. That's a true mess. They probably do need to go to a lockdown.

Up to this point I think Cuomo has done a solid job even though I’m no fan. Which currently probably means little because his job is fixing to jump about 1000 levels in difficulty.

Politics aside, Cuomo has sounded more plugged in than most. Doesn’t really matter what his political party is.

They are in lockdown. Nobody that doesn’t absolutely have to leave their apartment does. Public transportation is still running, but if you shut it off you shut off access to food and transportation to essential services. It would turn into a civil unrest issue on top of a public health issue. Nobody wants to be out. Most people are taking this very seriously.

Cuomo has done a much better job than Reeves. I'd take Cuomo over what we have without hesitation
He’s done a good job. Stockpile of ventilators but the population will also dictate that and also governmental responses by state. Not defending our Governor but that is a true apple to orange comparison

Look at the bottom of all posts. He is literally the downvote option in a sportsless world on a sports message board.

While not necessarily a fan of Reeves, we have 1/6 population and they have 50 plus times the death. We need to do what we have but blaming an official compared to another state is a bit short sighted. Totally different situations

The main issue with Reeves is that he’a not in front of cameras every day explaining what we’re doing. Not saying that we aren’t doing anything but the governors role is to be the face of that response.

Communication is the key word here. People are looking to Tate for some sort of direction and he hasn’t really given much and when he has, the message isn’t clear. I get that this is a unique situation that doesn’t have a template or roadmap that he can follow, but he needs to step and communicate that he and his staff have a grip on this.
