Yes, I know Cashman always waits until 5:59 PM BUT....

Catchers are going off the board now. Adley Rautschman is going to Boston. Miami traded their good young catcher (Liam Hicks) to Tampa Bay. Our old catcher Ben Rortvadt as insurance to the Dodgers

Yanks need to get a deal done with the Twins or the Reds it seems.

San Diego apparently turned down a 1 for 1 trade of Will Warren for their really good lefty set-up man. Bizarre that you turn down a mid-rotation starter for a reliever. And now they are trading for Robbie Ray with the Giants as their starting pitcher pick-up.

C'mon Cashman....GET IT DONE.

CATCHER
RELIEVER

NOW

Boston and Tampa are improving. It's got to happen.

I don’t mind the Garcia pick-up. Really only gave up quantity, not quality. Will definitely help the line up. It’s like they made the bonus move first

But there still HAS to be a move for a reliever tomorrow and a righty catcher. Has to be

We all know stats lie when it comes to this bullpen, but it will get worse if nothing added. Boone can’t run the same 3 arms out every single night before they completely wear out
To follow up on my "quantity, not quality" regarding the guys traded to the Nats....ESPN has a list of the 40 best prospects traded so far. Only Yovanny Cruz made that list at #22.

The two guys that the Yanks picked up for Dotel are listed at #27 and #39 right now.

The Red Sox getting Adley just kills me. Dude is really talented and ends up in Boston while we pencil Wells into the order might-in-night-out.

Just awful deadline. Yes, got a couple bats but just awful

I like that Garcia is a solid lefty hitter with power who should be the primary DH
But Ramos adds nothing the Yanks didn’t already have. Guess he’ll be a platoon right handed batter. He’s slow and not good defensively and we gave up a lefty minor leaguer with good stuff who has a legit chance as a future starting pitcher, albeit middle to back end of the rotation

Saw a funny meme today that was a breaking trade deadline acquisition, said (paraphrasing):

“Dodgers make another trade and acquire the Boston Red Sox”

Well, Cam really struggled tonight. With Wells and Grisham going back to back the Yankees would be back in the game if the pen had not given up 2 runs as soon as they entered the game. Thanks Hal for standing pat with this ****** pen.

Chvilli had thrown in 4 out of 5 games on Saturday when he wasn’t very good

And then got shelled tonight

Hedrick, Cruz, Chvilli, etc…arms are going to fall off before the season ends

Just flabbergasted we didn’t get any kind of arm to add to the pen

It's mind boggling how Boone uses the pen. It's even more mind boggling they made no effort to upgrade the pen. They are indeed going to move Weathers and Warren to the pen when Rodon and Schmidt return but how long will that be and how far out of 1st will we be by then?

I was really surprised to see The Martian and Volpe both sent to AAA. Had to make room for the 2 new additions. With Spencer Jones looking better every day and Volpe struggling I look for both to be dealt before next season.

And last night's 8th inning was brutal. I thought Garcia's home run would be the game winner and a great story, but enter.......the bullpen. Smdh

And very quietly The Martian had starting getting into a groove at the plate hitting at least one ball really hard each game for the last week or so

And he's rewarded with a trip back to Triple A

Lombard getting called and being given the keys to SS

Red Sox gave up 3 of their top 5 prospects for Adley blowing everyone else out of the running. Yanks were offering a package led by Elmer Rodriguez. The rest of the league gave a collective "wtf" yesterday when the deal was announced. I've never been a big Adley fan but I did desperately want him in the Bronx once it appeared that Baltimore was open to trading him.

But he's not a player you rob the top end of your minor league system to get.

Yanks are being mentioned in the “Losers” category for trade deadline moves, failing to get a catcher and bullpen help.

Dodgers got Skubal not because of money, but because they had great prospects.

I'm seeing them listed as an overall trade deadline winner in most national publications, with the caveat that Cashman tried for a catcher and kick the tires on some pitchers

Not that I agree with that assessment

Loaded farm system....really only gave up one "blue-chip" / Top 30 talent. The pitcher they sent has a golden arm but a long medical history to go with it.

He could hurt his arm again and be a forgotten afterthought or he could be a rare Eovaldi type who physically is closer to his arm completely falling off than being effective and somehow manage to be a stalwart

Two of the prospects the Dodgers gave up immediately became top-5 prospects in the Tigers organization.

Getting rid of Eovaldi is one of the worst decisions Cashman ever made. Essentially gifted the Red Sox another title.

Watching Lombard play tonight has been so enjoyable. 3 stellar defensive plays and a home run.

Only players younger than him to play for the Yankees were Bobby Murcer snd Derek Jeter. Both of them were 19.

And his brother hit a home run in his pro debut. What a night for that family.

I say this knowing the kid hasn’t even finished his first game in the show (LOL) but there is a smoothness to his fielding that is so relaxing to watch.

Kid looks like a 29 year old gold glover in the prime of his career that’s been picking it in the show for 7 seasons or so

Easy to see why the brass has been saying he had the best glove at SS in the entire organization. And that’s including Caballero who is pretty damn good with the glove

Just came to post that, that he looks like a veteran. Very smooth. Mature beyond his years.

This has got to be the most pitiful hitting MLB team I've seen in quite some time. I've been saying it for a while now and I'll say it again. WTF do the hitting coaches do? Do they have a technique where they have ruined all the hitters or are they unable to correct the bad mechanics all these hitters are experiencing. Even Paul O"Neill has mentioned what the flaws are in the batters, why can't the coaches? Here are the batting averages of some of last night's starters.

.169 .211 .143 .213 .217 .212 No wonder we can't score.

Really? I keep seeing them described as trade deadline losers. Just yesterday, the NYT (i.e., The Athletic) classified every MLB team, and again Yanks were in the losers category.

Turn Volpe into a 2B-man. Get rid of Chisholm.
Volpe has been a big disappointment. Garcia will be the 2b and Jazz will moved back to 3B if he remains a Yankee. Look for Volpe and Dominguez to get dealt in the off season.

I thought Chisholm can't play 3B long term, due to arm injuries? I was told that when I said the Yanks should keep him there at 3B and retain Gleyber at 2B.

His arm is OK now. That doesn't mean it won't flare up again. Who knows with this team and it's constant injuries?

Although I'm happy to win and beat the Braves, not addressing the bullpen needs is very frustrating for Yankees fans. Boone went to his pet Cruz first who promptly gave up a home run. Then Hill gave up a home run in the 9th.

I just don't like Bednar. You need a closer that strikes batters out. Bednar pitches to contact and without Garcia's miracle catch in the 10th we probably lose.

But a win is a win and kept us tied with the Bosox. Not long ago the Yankees were 15 games ahead of the Sox. Something is in the water in Boston and I want some.

Hey, lakelaw, Boone has a new word. he's now use it 2 games in a row instead of "grind".

Manager Aaron Boone called the win “gritty”.

I have to turn it off when Bednar enters. He just ain't all that to me. Has he ever had a 123 inning? Reminds ne of Wetteland. Has to put 2 men on every outing.

Was watching the Old Timers game today and Mo Rivera made the comment he can't believe the Yankees haven't fixed this bullpen.

Once again the Yankees score no runs for Schlittler. Once again we can't put a ball in play with runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out in the 7th. Once again we lose a game in extra innings. Once again the bullpen loses a game in which a starter pitched so well. Can we get ONE reliever that can strike batters out instead of allowing balls in play? That's why we lose all these extra innings games. How many times have we seen this movie?
