NWCA Championship Dual.

Does anyone know if there will be free online broadcasting of the championship dual tomorrow. How is it good for wrestling to have the biggest dual of the year not available. Will flo offer it for free like trackwrestling did?

Only way to see it is to spring for $20 bucks and watch a buffering , freezing Flo Wrestling video stream. College Wrestling is only slightly more popular than fencing and squash, those olympic sports relegated to obscure online pay wall protected internet outlets. The Powers that be for College Wrestlng and Amature wrestling pretty much have no idea how to grow their sport.

Even NJ HS wrestling is more popular with free streaming by NJcom and 40,000 fans attending the championships in Atlantic City. NCAA wrestling might want to hire Steve Timko and the NJSIAA, lol as NJ HS wrestling is actually more popular than the D1 NCAA College wrestling championships.

I watched Iowa/Edinboro last night.. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised as the stream was very good quality this time...Hopefully that continues today with the other matches.. Although I do agree Abro that ESPN or someone definitely dropped the ball with the chance to carry and promote Penn St/ OkSt!! If there was one must see dual this year.. this is it!

the rights to the matches are locked up ahead of time. ESPN has ACC and MAC plus the NCAA championship rights. Flo has Big 12, so because it's a home dual for OK St, the match is on Flo.

incidentally, if this dual meet was part of a dual meet tournament that scored championship points that were counted along with the points scored at the regular NCAAs, then ESPN would have the rights to it and it would be streamed on espn3 and likely carried on one of the espn cable channels.

but we don't have that system in place because certain coaches were vehemently opposed to it.

Hopefully in the future the NCAA will sell the rights for all events to one company. The fans will benefit by only having to purchase one subscription instead of three or four. Thankfully Trackwrestling was willing to show the matches for free. Nice job by them.

I am vehemently opposed to this this scoring idea. It does absolutely nothing for a team that has zero dual meet championship potential to place at NCAAs. It does benefit teams like Iowa, Penn State, Ok State, Ohio State etc. Curious the two main opponents of this are Brands and Sanderson.

One problem is it's not an NCAA event. There's a poster on blackshoediaries.com (bscaff) that did a great job a detailing how we got here. It's really a shame because this event, by event I mean all the duals, should have been used to promote the sport. These are essentially the equivalent to bowl games in football and we see how those are marketed.

I wasn't aware of that. Hopefully the NCAA will take control and make some changes for the future. For now I'll watch the Cornell match for free on track wrestling and then pay $20.00 to watch the Penn State dual.

Constant freezing screen, I gave up during the Dean bout.
Snyder did not wrestle, Cornell won the match .
OSU lost every toss up including #1 Bo Jordan to Realtbuto.
Home arena advantage again.

6-0 Ok St up after Suriano injury defaults with an injured ankle. Wow, sounds serious. Could affect his Big10 and NCAA tourney too.

My bet is he won't even wrestle B1G's as he'll get the AQ for the NCAA's.

EDIT: Apparently you have to wrestle at least one match in the conference tourney to qualify for the NCAA's

13-3 after a Zain Retherford dec. Got it on Periscope via Flo but keeps cutting out.

NO ! lol, I'll give it a try after intermission. Acutally the audio i heard on Periscope was just crowd noise, the PSU play by play is good, but homers nevertheless.

You were right , i was on mute ! lol. I turned off the PSU pbp, too distracting. Can't beleive we got this for free !
