Hickory in an easy one against South. Now...South does have a running back and if they can play just good enough defense they might can keep it respectable.

Hickory survives scoring with 17.8 seconds remaining to win 55-54. Cody Young broke the single game rushing record with 360 yards on 31 carries and tied the single game touchdown record with 7 rushing touchdowns. There was over 1300 yards of total offense between the teams.

All of this proves again the old adage, "that's why they play the game".

I came to game in the last 7 min. Just came from church to game and I just gotta say Thank you Jesus for saving me. Glad I went to church first. But yeah i made this game and whew, no defense on that field ha ha.

I think you've pegged the X Factor for this game. Everyone knows what the teams are capable of, they've been consistent and shown what they're made of all year. I think it comes down to game plan, scheme, and adjustments. Which Coach can be the difference maker?

I've said this before, but this could be one of the best games all year in the State. Regardless of the outcome, there won't be a victor that didn't earn or deserve it. Both teams are gonna bring it. I think talent wise, Freedom has an edge. I think coaching wise, Watauga has the edge, only because Habich has his system in place and has for several years. Coach Little is an amazing coach and really gotten Freedom back on track.

I don't believe the weather is much different from Morganton to Boone. If anything maybe a few degrees colder. My grandparents live in Glen Alpine so I've spent quite a bit of time down there.

Yes. This plays into Habich game strategy. Other area schools are playing Thursday to avoid the rain. Have a feeling Habich and wet snowballs fits Watauga fine!

If you have connections to Turkey Tail, you may be alright after all. Even if the temperature is the same in Morganton and Boone, the weather is still much different due to being closer to the good Lord.

Just thinking. Watauga needs to move this game to Thursday night. Going to be a very cold, wet game. No excuses here but this certainly favors Watauga some. Either way let the best team win! Watauga hasn't won a conference since 2007 and before that it was 1980.

Very true. Freedom is two touchdowns better than Shelby. Freedom receivers have gotten much better.

yes. Our running game is still just average with all healthy. Our QB does add an additional run threat so this keeps defenses honest.

Don't think Freedom is ready for Hibriten , if that was even possible this year, but still much improved from past few years.

I've said it several times.... really impressed with this Head Coach. All joking aside, I see Freedom contending for a state title next year and could go deep this year.

The turf should help with the rain Friday night, but slippery football will limit Freedom passing game - which certainly favors Watauga. Even with poor playing conditions..... Freedom 36-28

Watauga Freedom game not moved to Thursday night?? I saw where all the area schools were just not sure Why this one was not. I understand they have a turf field but would hate to see a game of that magnitude be affected by weather. Plus from a fan stand point who wants to sit in rain and 35 degree weather? Been keeping up with Freedom this year following Coach Little. Guess he will find out how mentally and physically tough his boys are.

Actually i hope they put it on hibriten they need it!! A good test might work for hibriten tonight!

Hibriten will score at will. West Iredell will have 1 of the better offenses in conference so they may score a few times.

No way Freedom puts up 36 on Watauga's defense. I know Freedom is good, but given the predicted conditions and Watauga's ability to control the clock, this is a 24-21 or 21-18 game. I don't see either team winning by more than 7. Watauga can score just as quickly as Freedom.
