I agree GDG. The lopsided loss to Shelby was unacceptable.
Freedom's been loaded with talent at every position for 7 yrs. At the least,
there should be one or two trophies in the cabinet. I think it's a combination
of things....

And yes, I too enjoyed the Freedom/N Conover series!

What's everyone's thoughts on Freedom/Watauga game? Is this the year
the Pioneers finally get a recent W against Freedom? To me, this is a must win
for Freedom in regards to playoff seeding.

many are projecting an upset... I'm not sure that I would consider it an upset.

I think it will be high scoring... the last one with the ball wins!

This is usually a major thrashing, espacially in the 90s. Watauga has deeply impressed me with how they've came around in conf play.

Major athletes in the 90s that coulda beat anyone in conf at times but Crest if used and coached right. IMO

Watauga's diverse offense will give Freedom trouble. If Freedom doesn't score each time the Pioneers do it could be a long night for the Patriots.I feel Watauga takes this one by 5 points, 41-36.

you're right about Watauga's diverse offense.... usually very hard to defend.
this will be a totally different game compared to last year.

Freedom has opened things up, throwing the football a lot more.
If Allen would have ran this offense the past two seasons he would have
a ring.....now some major players are gone and the chances are far less
likely.... even of a conf championship. JV team is pretty solid and future QB
Birchfield shows a lot of promise.

They did throw more I've noticed. Only seen them at the TC Roberson game.

What I can't figure out is how in the world did Hickory keep it so close?

After seeming that score id say they are out of the basement and will burn South Caldwell by 28+ easily. I figured South would be less competitive as last season but I never saw it coming out to being this bad for them.

Predictions

1. Hibriten- obvious
2. Freedom- Lucky stop on Watauga
3. Watauga- I'm convinced
4. Patton- just good enough
5. Hickory- suprise
6. Saint- back to old days
7. Foard- battle to avoid basement
8. South- back to the 80s, smh

Simmons has Freedom picked by 6. The rain does favor Freedom...
it will limit Watauga offense.

I remember a time when St Stephens beat Bandys, Kings Mtn and East Lincoln all in the same year

2001-2002 and went 7-4
No kidding. Boy they must have been aweful. That must have been the years Crest was in the conference with Hickory as well. Saw Crest about that time put 50 on Saint in the first half. Coach for Saint came to midfield and stared down Crest HC Kirby before heading to the fieldhouse. Crest fans went wild with laughter. Kirby pulled back and laid down with the ball the entire second half.

The mud battle for 2nd place in conf will be played on the beautiful majestic
banks of the swollen Catawba River @ 7:30pm.

Oh, I almost forgot... breakfast bar at Ables afterward.... best in town!

I miss that announcer. Watauga buses just rolled through Lenoir. Should be the best game in the area tonight. Keep us posted Pats hopefully the big dog will cover it.

Watauga is good, people doubted them but when we played them I knew they would give that conference fits! Congrats Watauga you have a good coach and a good team!
