NW offense looks good, it is hard for me to track who has the ball. making it difficult for the defense. Would he come?

I mentioned this in the games thread. I don’t think he wants to be CFB HC. He doesn’t like doing all the things outside of the football like recruiting or gladhanding donors etc…which CFB HCs do.

That’s part of why he left UCLA to be OC at OSU.

If by some chance NFL HC came again, I think he’d do that but not CFB HC.

If someone wanted to pry him from NW as CFB OC, I could see that though.

We can have the football firm of Kelly & Kelly. 😉

Same Chip Kelly when UNH OC beat Schiano…a shocker at the time but we’ve since learned Keep Choppin is a career-long grifting fraud.

Amazing thread of play design from last night. When you don’t have all 4-5* players, you can have an identity and scheme your way to wins like this and the way Iowa always has. We could learn a thing or ten from these examples.

We have had teams that would have had a chance but this team- I just don't see it. Because if State Penn is bad, we are even worse until my eyes tell me we aren't.
Yes, last year we gave the game away to PSU with unforced errors ..same thing in 2014 with Nova at QB. Certainly looking to see if we can build on the improvement in the USC game… just hoping we can salvage the season. You are right the eyes don’t see it.

That was the year that Penn State's defensive coordinator promised his secondary (before the game) that they would get four interceptions and they got five. In 2012 he threw six vs Kent State

I think before clock rule changes when there were greater numbers of plays per game and defenses couldn’t substitute (ball is held now if offense subs) like now it would be hard to win like that if you’re a lower status school.

With the changes in the game and defense also adapting to more spread offenses, I think there is a little shift to more physical football in some places.

But I don’t know that I’d call this meat head football per se any more than I’d call what Navy or Army run as meat head football. There’s a lot of eye candy and misdirection in the stuff Kelly used. I’d call what Harbaugh ran af Michigan and Stanford to be more meathead football than this style.

Chip Kelly can of course coach offense. But he’s got a great head coach.
Kelly was the OC of the 2004 New Hampshire team that took it to Schiano's Rutgers squad 31-24
Sean McDonnell, nicknamed "Coach Mac" was the HC of the Wildcats that year and had a long successful career there (157-104)
Kelly wasn't a bad College HC either( 81-44) but seems to have become tired of the HCing position and decided being an OC was more to his liking

He was a very good HC at Oregon but losing record after that

He was running a version of the spread called "The Blur Offense" when it was still kind of new 15+ years ago. A lot of teams consulted with him and college teams imitated him. His problem was that he would win most games in regular season and then get beat in big games. He lost title game to Auburn. His Blur Offense doesn't stump teams anymore . Since 2023 he's been on four teams and fired by one. He's been coaching 36 years. These kind of coaches start to show they are winding down. I dont see Chip Kelly looking to take a reclamation job in the B1G

I remember when Army got Bobby Ross (former NFL Chargers coach) as coach when he was in his 60s and he admitted in an interview that it was hard for him to get excited by games
