Sounds like a good get on paper, but we'll have to see how well the batting translates at a higher playing level. Princeton was the only good team in the Ivy League last year (made NCAA tournament) and was the only one (of 8) to have a winning record. Penn's record was 17-27 overall, and Penn tied for 5th in the conference at 8-13.
Ganje batted leadoff and looks to have Nieto-like SB potential, but she doesn't look to be a pure base stealer. Last year she was 11-13 on SB attempts. Nieto was 10-12. By comparison, Avvisato was 22-25 on SB's as a freshman in 2025. For whatever reason, Avvisato didn't run much last year, just making 8 attempts all year.
Ganje is also a CF, so she either will have to slide to RF, replacing Nader, or perhaps she'll push Avvisato back to SS. If Avvisato stays in CF and Ganje can take right, that would free up Medina to return to her high school position of SS. Medina's freshman year was disappointing, given the expectations, and she struggled with the move to 3rd base. More importantly, would a move back to SS for Medina help her rediscover the stroke that allowed her to bat 0.558 with 16 homeruns as a senior at Glenbard North? The Cats really need that version of Medina next year.
