Is it a absolute given that GS will retain him or will he fly off to some HC job in say the Patriot league or something of that nature? Being that recruiting is of the utmost importance in phase 1 of a rebuild I got to believe he will be on the staff.

If schiano comes in expect both him and his brother to be at Rutgers. Only snafu could be if hafley comes comes back.

Haffley is Co-Defensive Coordinator & DB Coach at Ohio State. There would be no overlap from a coaching perspective. But there better be a BIG assistant coaching budget if there's any realistic possibility of him returning. And Nunz is not ready for a Patriot League HC position. But while the chances are EXCEEDINGLY low, a Schiano, Haffley, Nunz trio would a hellacious recruiting combination.

LOL Haf ain’t coming back from OSU...NOW...If we can get the brothers and also steel partridge away from Michigan, should hardball get fired, that would be a GREAT start!

Partridge would be poison with NJ Parochial coaches. All his kids are now in or graduated from college.

If they give schiano 4-5 million for assistants he could offer Hafley a significant raise. He is also a NJ guy and I could see him wanting to come home. He is an exceptional recruiter.

I would rather have hafley, but I doubt that he would leave his gig as DC for OSU to come to RU. I may be wrong, but we would have to pay more than OSU. How likely is that to happen? He probably has a 2 year contract at OSU too so it is unlikely that he could even talk to GS.

I hope Patridge comes no where near Rutgers. Fran Brown only will leave for a hc job. He's killing it recruiting for Temple and will be a problem for us as long as he's there.

offer to double his salary, take a shot

There's $950k reasons why he won't be leaving OSU

Probably more when you consider the tax differences. Like I said, there better be a BIG assistant coaching budget.

Just doing some quick math, $4 million likely wouldn't get you near that. Maybe $750k for the OC and DC.

Anything we can offer Hafley so can OSU it’s not gonna be money that gets him unless you’re talking those crazy 2M coordinator salaries which we’re not paying. He’d have to have a hankering to come back to NJ or he’s not a likely target.

That's the only realistic way we get him, we're not outbidding OSU if they really want him unless you're talking those crazy 2M plus coordinator salaries and we're not paying that and even that OSU could match too if they really wanted.

I lived and worked in Ohio. We left in less than a year. We were extremely happy to be back in NJ with higher taxes and we never looked back.

I think you said that was Cincinnati. That is a horrible town / area. Columbus area is much nicer.
Yes, Cincinnati. You are not working from RaRa's spreadsheet of user information, are you? (that's a joke). Agree-horrible town and area. Columbus is OK, but if I was making around $1million, I would choose to live in NJ over Columbus, OH every day of the week and suck up the additional cost of living. One thing we learned from living in three lower cost areas (North Carolina, Cincinnati and upstate/Western NY)--those places are all cheaper for a reason--they pale in comparison to living in NJ. But we are NJ through and through.

My mother went to Miami and we had family reunions at Hueston Woods. Nice campus.

I never did get used to Cincinnati Chili.

We really enjoy Cincinnati chili. We make Skyline Chili a couple of times per month. Cincinnati is/was a city of contradictions. Generally conservative. Jerry Springer was a Mayor, and it was one of the first major cities to have an openly gay/lesbian Mayor. We made the most of our short time there, but were glad to leave. People were not very welcoming.

Knightshift, you will be happy to know I learned how to use the Reply button. Probably would need to take a class , but I am thinking about getting one of these new fangled pager things. I will let you know when I make my decision. Probably be thinking about it for a few years down the road, though. Don’t want to rush into anything.

Ha, Ha, Ha. Well, I have a confession. I am a podcast luddite. If I don' play the podcast directly from a website, I don't have a clue on how to use stitcher or the other multitude of applications that let you download and play them on your mobile phone, etc.

Welcome to the future!
