It's not even really a publisher, just a platform. Otherwise they would have to approve every post. It would be like me suing Rivals because Dave said mean things.
I agree with that. Trumpers, Alt-Righters, Nazis like to argue that they are publishers and not a f'n app.

I mean, I guess if you’re ok with systemic organization discrimination, it’s cool. I personally think it’s bad, but whatevs. I don’t use twitter anyway.
It's one company. Start your own and blow them out of the water.

What is his purpose? I'm not following the story and am just bored so reading this thread. But there is a reason politicians don't sue when they are slandered.
Lije dog said. It is to get into discovery and get them to publicize their procedures.

Just one lib, as far as I'll can tell but for totally different reasons.

It's not even really a publisher, just a platform. Otherwise they would have to approve every post. It would be like me suing Rivals because Dave said mean things.
The rub then is that they become a publisher when they direct the type of messages they allow.

They cant censor some of the words and not others.
Is he suing TNT for editing movies that they air? Twitter is a private company. They can choose to censor what they want. That's the long and short of it. If he wants to somehow regulate that industry, he's in Congress. He could introduce a bill to force that kind of regulation. This is a publicity stunt.

They are exempted from libel in most cases because they are not the publisher if the content on their platform. When they censor with bias and allow others to slander do they become a publisher. That is the point of the suit. That is the long and short of it. It doesnt matter what you or I think. He is testing their exemption in court and a judge will decide if it is legit.

But why is a sitting Congressman using the courts to write laws? He has the power to regulate this through the legislative branch, or at least attempt to do that.

Why are you concerned about it? You guys have assured everyone it won’t go anywhere. It probably won’t. I don’t think it will either, but that doesn’t take away from what he is attempting to do whether you disagree with it or not.

How is he writing the law? The law is written. He is asking the court to determine the legality of their actions based on the law.

I'm not concerned about it. I am noting that this is a case of a congressman suing to get the courts to regulate a private company's practices. That's something he could do at his day job. I can have an opinion about a topic without being "concerned".

If I write a letter to the editor of a newspaper, and the letter is not put into print, can I sue? That's censorship by a private entity. And heaven forbid that they print a letter to the editor that is exactly counter to the opinion expressed in mine. Come see the oppression inherent in the system!

There is no guarantee when you write a letter to the esitor that it will be published. You are however free to tweet on twitter as long as you follow their terms of service without having your tweets deleted or your account shadowbanned.

Is the manufacturer of a megaphone responsible for the words spoken into it?

That's not really a good analogy Mule. Take Youtube for example. If Pedo Bob posts a Chris Hansen "Have a seat" pedo video, and Youtube does nothing to take it down, then yes, Youtube can be held responsible for allowing it.

What if you're black, like country, and they don't print the letter because your black? Can you sue then?

Maybe we will eventually see political class established as a protected class like we do race, religion, etc.
