NU offense plays better than everyone expects. Maybe we even go down and score on our first drive. Cats are within ten until mid-3rd quarter, but in the end, Wisconsin is just too good.

NU’s defense is sneaky bad this year.

NU’s offense is not sneaky bad this year. It is blatantly bad.

Maybe we somehow cover.

I have never predicted against the Cats and am not about to start now:

Badgers - 17

Badgered - 20
I’ve never picked against the Cats, but the Badgers hate us and smell blood in the water. They are going to do whatever they can to kick us when we’re down: just like 2010.

Wisconsin 38
Northwestern 10

I’m cheering for a bowl game, but this smells like a 4-8 season. Just like Fitz’s first.

(Sigh)

Hate predicting against us, so I'll just say that I hope we see the team take steps forward on both sides of the ball. Reality is we need a ton of experience and growth, and the first half of the 2019 season schedule is really a bad time to need that.

But it should set us up well for the latter half if we can improve every game from here.

Gotta refocus and circle 4 more wins plus a bowl for 6 wins so we can have something to build on, unlike our BB program.

Once the game gets out of hand we need to put in the second teamers for experience. Plus we dont need any starters injured for the second half of the season when we have some games we can actually win.

We should have moved the OSU game to Cleveland this year and made a ton of money.

Wow, could they predict Nagasaki?

I was in Madison for Hiroshima, but I gotta say,

Rising sun over Mendota: Kamikazes
Setting sun over Lake Michigan: No ships sunk.

We aren’t bowling if we don’t cover this week. Should be able to stay in the game for at least a half. Glad they blitzed Big Bad Blue. May stumble to start before they wake up.

We will upet Wisconsin and win the west! We will beat Ohio State. Just wait and see! It's gonna be biblical!

I dont see it.
This game is men against boys. Just not fair.
Wisconsin knows their game. Our offense needs alot more time before they can figure out the complexities.
Even OSU players are more quick witted regarding football.

On paper, it sure looks like we're going to take a beating and Taylor will finally break through against the NU defense.

I will be watching for signs of life on the offense. Hopefully Fitz and HJ can start to workout whatever bad mojo there is between them. Being a big underdog on the road, there's no pressure and it's time to cut it loose.

Any nice open field tackles on D will be worth celebrating.

If we see a lot of run/run/incomplete/punt, I will be seeing my whiskey bottle.

I think the big problem this year is the D. Guys who made tackles last year aren't trusting eachother this year. Thus, not in position and lunging arm tackles. I don't think we are as bad as everyone thinks. Not saying we will win tomorrow but I wouldn't be surprised if we keep it fairly close. Work in progress with a new QB and we know what that means around here.

I haven't seen it mentioned in this thread, but Wisconsin lost a starting safety to injury this summer and two more to targeting calls in the second half against Michigan. That means for the first half on Saturday, Wisconsin will be down to safeties 4 and 5.

You might have made a very good prediction there.

I would not bet money on the Badgers covering a 23 or 24 point spread.

This season the defense has been improved by two starting defensive tackles returning from injury and experience on the part of defensive backs who were freshmen last season. I would be curious to read a comparison of MSU's defense to UW's after the game.

Jack Coan is a step up at quarterback from Alex Hornibrook and the return of Quintez Cephus at wide receiver has been a big boost to the passing game.

Wisconsin 38 Northwestern 21 (halftime UW 17 NW 14)

Badgers will win this one due to the fact that this is their best QB in a very long time and Chryst has figured out you can’t be so transparent in your play calling.
