According to an article by Barry Tramel of OKNews, OU AD is keeping the door open on the idea. Probably not going to happen in our upcoming series but maybe a possibility for the next. Big 12 changing their scheduling. More than likely be Bedlam or Red River shoot out but would be worth thinking about.

I am sure there will be a lot of heck nos on here and" Big 12 won't be around". Not sure if OU every year would help recruiting wise. Michigan vs ND I know is different because ND is a national Catholic thing, but I think the battle of the Big Red's could work again.

Stop living in the 90s :D

In all seriousness, I could see the appeal for the Big 12 to want non-conference games in the last week of the regular season to avoid the potential for an immediate rematch in their championship game given their no-division, round-robin scheduling.

I like the idea. But I can't imagine the Big Ten conceding that the NU-OU matchup has more appeal to fans than a matchup in which the Huskers play for a trophy of some sort. Or an ax. Or a bronze pig.

Im not sure who was responsible for getting rid of the NU vs 0u game on thanksgiving,
thus leaving me to watch the lions vs cowboys,
but whoever did needs to be brought to swift justice,
crimes like that don't have a statue of limitation in my view.

Division play with Big 12 made the game uncertain, due to crossovers, so enter CU.

That's a good point.

Can we find a corporate sponsor for a trophy?

If the big 12 had a commissioner at that time with a set of nuts he could have easily had NU play OU every year but OU wanted nothing to do with it. screw OU there little Texas

If we're honoring Devaney and Switzer, might as well make it the Taco Bowl...

That was good. Remember it well. My favorite was when Switzer would show up in Devaney s weekly TV show but the best was when he showed up in a chef suit and delivered a cake I believe at an event honoring the Bob father. The look on Devaney s face was priceless

NU/OU was a true love/hate relationship. I rooted for them every week except for when we played them because you knew that your final ranking and bowl was important that OU was highly ranked. That's what a true rivalry was. Respect but intense.
I agree and it wasn't a ugly one, got along great with the sooner fans in the old big 8 and early big 12. The reason I said screw OU was when the big 12 was formed they never supposed NU when it came to a vote which in turn made Texas the big pain The same goes for all former big 8 schools, when the big 12 finally dies I'm going to enjoy Iowa state kst okie lite part of the mountain west or conference USA.

There is a *** kicking we don't need this year....

....I love the thought of competition....buts lets at least 'jog' before we run....

OU would use us as a bath mat this year.... lets schedule a game where we have a 'chance' of winning....why schedule a game that will 100% L and also a good chance of getting somebody(s) broke in the process....

JMHO.

Go Big Red!

Since 1950, Nebraska played Oklahoma on Thanksgiving Day 4 times

1965, 1966, 1971 and 1972.

I have always wondered why so many people remember Thanksgiving day as the traditional day they played....I associated Black Friday with the game, which make since, because, the last time they played on Thanksgiving day, It was 5 days before I was born...(By the way, My Mom went to that game 5 days before her due date)

And I remember watching all 4 of those games on TV back in the day...

I understand… I did however think you were talking this year. Other than that, I don’t really know… The past is definitely the past and I wonder if the “future“ should link itself once again is to the past? Perhaps it’s time for new traditions along with the new outlook that coach frost brings to the program?

I am hoping for it for selfish reasons. Would travel to Norman in a heartbeat for a game. We had good times with the sooner fans. Always treated well there.
