Wednesday...

Usually the hard part of this little exercise is trying to guess which NU squad will turn up. But the Gophers of Mystery make this significantly trickier. Which will show up : The one that was pole-axed by the Fighting Lovies or the one that derailed Purdue? Splitting the difference, albeit slightly in the Cats' favor:

Cats 31
Rodents 27

NU 24-14

Don't see this as a very high scoring affair; I think we'll go with lots of Bowser on first downs and each side will get around 12-13 drives.

This is a huge game for both teams. Minnie wants to get to a Bowl and we want to continue this great conference run, with no letdown. Was that a good Minnie team Saturday against the Boilers or and abberation? Will it be difficult for our team to be up for this game with the West in our back pocket? Will are injury situation hurt us? Do we have our kicker's back? Cold weather game. Can we continue to run the ball effectively and can Thorson turn it up a notch? We will find out Saturday. Let's hope we keep the "pedal to the metal". Hope we win, but I have this as a toss up.

Minnesota is going to be geeked up to play us. They only need one more win to get bowl eligible and play Wisconsin next/last.

They'll be our "petal to the medal."

You sound like a sports writer--of course Minnesota will be more worried about Wisconsin than NU, given we only beat them by 2 touchdowns. I mean if it had been a decisive win......

Preventing PJ from a bowl will be very satisfying. Still remember him styling and profiling for Pic’s when WMU won that opener at NU. Just like last year, make them shut down early.

really all of you think it will be a walk in the park for Northwestern? Look up Gophers Freshman RB, QB's & WR's before you talk. We have managaed to put up 20+ on every opponent including Ohio State

If you think a heavy rush attack will work against us I have bad news for you.

Also, you don't want to compare freshman RBs with us.

I seem to remember that Minnesota more resembled a lifeless corpse than a football team last year. Hopefully Peej has the gophers more motivated then they were in that game. I also seem to remember Minnesota beat a Nebraska team pretty soundly the week before the NU game (ala UM-PU). What the hell:

I don't believe anyone of us thinks it will be a walk in the park, except maybe Mr. Walkinthepark. We just want to win this, and, since Akron, our record suggests we can pull out wins against any team not among the top 4 in the country.

Mr. Walkinthepark is not lacking for confidence. I’m a fan of his.

It really depends on how we approach the game. If we go with an abundance of caution, we could lose. I don’t see that happening and we are way better than Minny overall. Minny has to figure this is their one chance to go bowling, so maybe they look better. I am not buying the miracle turn around because of one game. If they do it again, then I might buy it.

Since my Approach of picking our team to lose resulting in a win worked last time with Iowa I will do so again this time. 21-14 rodents.

I will once again hope that CT has at least a decent day (no picks and 60% completion), in which case Cats beat rodents 28-17. If CT plays like last few weeks, we win another squeaker.
