Happy Wednesday. This week's game is the revival of one of most storied rivalries in all of sports. A blood feud so hard-fought, that before there were East and West, before there were Legends and Leaders, the Big Ten conference decreed that the Wildcats and Boilermakers series would be protected, nurtured and played every season.

And so it continues now. Time to prognosticate.

'Cats remain 3 point favorites at Purdue. Boilers were very fortunate to beat Iowa. I don't care who is in or out for Purdue. 'Cats 31 Boilers 13.

The passing attack of Purdue scares me a bit, but then I realized that, for all their weapons in the WR corps, they only managed 24 points against Io_a and 31 points against Illinois. I just don't see them doing that against our defense.

I think this is the week that everything comes together - we eliminate the early turnovers, and the offense returns to its week 1 form against a porous Purdue defense, hammering them on the ground, and then burning them with some well-timed play-action.

On the defensive side, Hank calls up creative blitz packages to pressure O'Connell into bad decisions. We get out to an early lead and make them one-dimensional - they get their yards through the air, but our bend-don't-break defense stiffens in the red zone, holding them to a single touchdown and 3 FGs.

This will be a very tough game to win if all of purdue's key players are active. I have picked Northwestern to win 24 to 21 in every game so far so I'm going with that score since it's been quite successful.

NU 23-16, though mentions of Brohm's son will beat both scores.

Too many critical variables. As for the really big ones:

NU 31 Purdue 23 (No Karlaftis or Moore)
NU 31 Purdue 30 (No Karlaftis - Moore plays)
Purdue 30 NU 24 (Both Karlaftis & Moore play)

Don't agree my friend. We win by at least 2 touchdowns regardless of who plays for Purdue, unless the 'Cats get hit with covid.

I was at NU/PU opener 2 years ago under the lights. A beautiful, hot night when Moore had his coming out party. One thing for certain, the weather will be much worse this time.

Running game against a D that is not as good as the last two sets up the passing game and NU scores on long drives, keeping Purdue off the field.

Defense holds stout. Seeing an opportunity to hold Purdue to low score and fourth second half shut out.

Colder, windy and possibly rain.
Purdue may be fortunate that the game time has been moved up.
The better run defense and run game offense controls the clock, passing and catching a wet ball could be a challenge.

Reading the tea leaves as of Thursday (today) it sounds like option #2 is most likely. I have my doubts though as to how much action he will see and suspect his primary role will be that of a decoy to allow Bell to get free.

League's #1 passing offense against the #2 passing defense. Wrinkle? 80% chance of rain and wind predicted this Saturday evening in West Lafayette. Sounds like the fun makings of a good 'ol run game vs run game classic.

So in the spirit of fun(ny)...

Weather Plays into the favor of the Cats - Run the Ball and control the line of scrimmage.

Rain likely. Becoming windy late. Thunder possible. Low near 45F. Winds S at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 100%.

That's much worse than Accuweather has it, which I find to be the most reliable. They say 51 at kickoff, winds SSW at 15 mph with gusts to 20 and a 54% chance of rain, all of which remains favorable to NU in my opinion. I remain confident that we will win by 2 touchdowns or more, regardless of who plays for Purdue.
