The only pattern I see is lots of warm weather schools. But, hopefully the other factors are more important. I totally understand the weather piece-I went from California to NU. But, hopefully the other factors: the coaches, the opportunity/where the program is currently, the City, the access to Doug C,, the quality degree, will all be the biggest factors.

Compared to Buffalo, NU might be considered a warm weather school. Distance from home doesn't seem a factor here.

So now warm weather is a factor if you're playing basketball? Sheesh, part of the reason Naismith invented basketball is so that athletes would have a way of keeping in shape during cold weather.
