Saw yesterday's season-opening double-header vs Rice. (Played two due to expected Saturday storm in area.) Quite a difference between the games; first saw balls flying out of the park, while the nightcap was mostly pitchers' duel. In the 2nd, Weaver looked impressive on the mound, providing seven shutout innings.

Cats suffered two one-run losses but looked quite respectable, I thought. Lausch struggled -- didn't have it at the plate in either game, but he will surely come around.

I'll look forward to seeing tomorrow's (Sun) game.

Cats have run off 5 in a row. Swept Cornell & Boston College in South Carolina. Records sits at 5-2. They head to Atlanta to take on GT in a 3-game series.

Who would have expected the baseball team to have the same conference record as softball at this point in the season. Baseball is really developing well.

The good news is, NU is tied for 14th in the B1G.

The bad news is, NU is tied for last in the B1G.

At 5-13, NU is going to have to go on a serious run to match last seasons 13-17 record. They have Minny, Illinois, Rutgers and Indiana left. Good shot at series wins against all but Illinois. Finishing with 13 wins again is definitely doable.
